Hi,
Two questions about connecting an old Panasonic stb with an Avant, and using the Avant remote control.
1. My Avant can be used with a TU-CT20, which is in the tv's list of compatible stb's. So, will it also be compatible with a TU-CT30, which is a later, similar unit with 2 scarts instead of one and other small differences?
2. If the stb is placed in the bracket behind the set, and the small transmitter inserted, can I switch the STB on and off using the B and O remote? I know the remote will control other functions, but not sure about on/off.
Many thanks, Beo people.
I'd suggest two things here!
1. Go to an AV site such as RemoteCentral or AVForums and ask there about the TU-CT20 and TU-CT30 to see if they are the same. You are likely to get a for wider knowledge base on that specific issue. It is very likely they are almost the same. You might even do a search for the remotes of each on google and it might give you the model and if they match - yippee!
2. if you are using the inbuilt STB controller, the STB can be "hidden" and the remote for your Avant will control it and put it into the relevant mode when turning on/off, so if it sleeps when off it will do that or if it goes to standby it will do that. and it will turn on when you press the DTV button on your remote (or the equivalent on older remotes).
Is yours a Beolink 1000 or Beo4?
Another thought....what is the list of STBs your TV can control because we may be able to let you know if we have had good or bad experiences with the other items you can control and suggest alternatives that work

There's a good chance they will both work and the coding will be similar.
You could take a look at the Lintronic.dk website where you should find the codes for each and you can check how similar they are for the typical operations.
The STB will automatically turn on when you turn on the TV using the Vtape/SAT/DTV function that you've selected for your STB. It will turn itself off about 30 seconds after you turn the TV off or switch to a different STB. These Panasonic boxes (like many) have a tendency to lock-up from time to time. When that happens you need to unplug them and do a reset/ retune using the Panasonic's original remote. Then once you have both the TV and the STB both switched off you can start again with the Beo4: you can get the box and TV out of synch so that switching the TV on causes the STB to switch off and vice versa if you turn on the STB with its own remote when the TV is switched off.
