I just received a Beogram 1700 in good condition, it is equipped with a MMC20S cartridge. I am thinking about getting the humble "S" upgraded to a "CL" or Shibata needle/diamond, by getting it retipped.

There is also the choice of material used for the cantilever; aluminium or boron; the price-difference is enormous, almost twice as expensive, and even than the original B&O cartridges used "sapphire", can aluminium be regarded as a equivalent? (I always try to get things as original as possible)

Anybody here with experience on the subject?
