Hi all,
I was looking at the useful youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUG7viuGbS4) about connecting and sharing around the house of various video sources using the on board HDMI matrix lurking in 'Feature Activation' with an Altona device.
Unfortunately all of the Altona hardware items in this video are now superseded. Ultimately, I would like to share video around the house, but in the short term, I would like to do something much more simple and just use the Juno as a switcher (I have at least 4 items I would like to connect to the TV).
To do this I expect to have to buy a "key" from B&O for this luxury - any ideas what this costs? I assume this will allow me to pick "Matrix 1" for input 1 and "Matrix 2" for input 2 etc.
Alternatively how can I control the Juno device from the V1? I see there is a PUC for it, so, I guess if I plumb it in I could select source using my BEO4 on the device. I would prefer to have the choice of pressing a single button for either Set top box, BluRay, Apple TV, Firestick, rather than turning on the Juno and then picking source. Is this possible? Do I create a sort of Macro i.e select Juno, then pick input 2 to watch Blu ray and set that up as Buttons on the Beoremote one?
It appears that the vision is delivered using the HDMI cable and the sound using a cable to a sound processor is this the case?
Thanks in advance for any help received
Gary
Oh boy. There's a lot to unpack in your post. First off, the Beo4 is not very good for use with a matrix. The BeoRemote 1 is much better as it only requires a single button press. Better still, you can assign Matrix 1, Matrix 2, Matrix 3, and Matrix 4 to MyButtons.
I went through the daunting task of running Cat7 cables for an Atlona matrix for distribution to my Beosystem 4, 2x BeoSystem 3s, and a BeoVision 10. It looks weeks to get it working properly. Mostly because of the difficulty getting the correct optocouplers and getting the Atlona hardware to work properly. Sometimes, I still have to power cycle the Atlona matrix to get things working correctly.
My realization is that a similar result could be achieved just by connecting an Apple TV to each of the TVs. The Apple TVs stay in sync so that you can pick up from one tv where you left off on another tv.
My dealer told me that the keys usually cost around $700 or $800. He was kind enough to unlock mine at no charge, though.

Does anyone know how I can obtain an HDMI feature activation key for the beoplay v1? My dealer couldn't find any information on this. Have the new opto-coupler all ready but can't use it! Many thanks, Rob.
