Hello,

I bought last weekend a Beosound 9000 with a pair of Beolab 8000.

I have one regret, however: that I did not purchase it before. The sound of the BLs is simply incredible.

My problem: now, I would like the same sound in my home office / bedroom, a large room (35 sqm) with a wooden cathedral ceiling. I could put the speakers either on a library or on a wall. Thus, I need speakers that are flat but of the same (or better, why not) quality as the  BL8000.

Right now, I have beovox RL 60.2 on a beomaster 5500.

What is your advice?

Greetings from Switzerland

My Choice for speakers you search would be.

-Beolab 4000

-Beolab 5000

but your Musicsystem the 5500 is not the best to drive active speakers.

If you have the room, Look for a Good pair  of Beovox s75 on floorstands.

Thank you for your point about the beocenter

I will go for a Beocenter 9500 as main unit.

Do you think the Beolab 5000 are as good as the BL8000?

Sunny greetings from Fribourg

Hello Francois,

As fan of the Beocenter9500 (BC9500 + Beolab Penta is my main music system) I'd say you good choice as the main system Wink

The type of wall (concrete, bricks, etc..) affects the sound quality of Beolab 5000, so it is difficult to say if it will match your expectation, but in general Beolab5000 gets positiv apraisal on Beoworld adn can be compared to Beolab80000. With a system from the BC9500 era the display informations of Beolab5000 are also a nice extra (just be sure to use the right fully wired 8-Pin powerlink cables)

In addition I might suggest also Beolab 12-2 or Beolab 12-3 as option. Beolab 12-3 looks great wall mounted and is very good soundwise.

Greetings from a overcast and grey Vienna

P.S.: I spent two semesters at the Université Miséricorde in 2000/2001 as exchange student... I had a great time in Fribourg and I keep a lot of good memories.

Hello Foxtrott,

I am glad to hear that you had a good time here although Fribourg is maybe a bit quiet for students. Did you study law? The university is famous for it.

the Beolab 12-2 und 12-3 look indeed great, but are way out of my budget. I waited 10 years before the BL8000 had so fallen in price that I could afford them.

My wife just throwed a wrench in my plans: She prefers the Beocenter 2 to the Beocenter 9500, "because he is so cute"

Best regards,

François

Well, the "WAF (wife approval factor)" can indeed cause some difficulties when planing to get more B&O equipment Erm..

B&O and budget can be a real pain.... it took me some time to save up for my BC9500 and the Pentas (got them second hand), and even then the investment wasn't rational (one could say I was crazy to do it), but I don't regret it at all.

Yes, I followed some law classes and I can confirm that they were very good. Fribourg is a indeed bit quiet compared to Vienna (especially during week-ends), but I had good contact with swiss students (rather unusual for Erasmus exchange) and I cannot say that the time was boring Whistle
I had plans to visit Fribourg again this year, but Covid-19 made it impossible... well maybe next year.

Best regards

I would say that the BL 5000 are better than the 8000's. I have had both. The 5000's hanging on a brick-wall gives more bass than the BL8000's - they have a rich, detailed sound - way better than the BL 3000/4500 (if you should consider those).

Have you thought of another pair of Beolab 8000 but wall mounted?
