Hi

I Have setup as follows and I'm facing a cable or pre-amp issue.

BeoCenter 9300 with a Beogram 9500 connected. Everything has been serviced and checked by pro's a few months ago. The stylus is new from Soundsmith and the wires on the tonearm has been changed. So all fresh and renovated.

BG9500 Noise

I've tried a couple of different Pre-amps and they both leave me with noise, like a higher pitch hum sound. The both support MC and or MM but the noise seems irrevant to whether I select MC or MM.

I do not know how a Beograd 9500 works, but the noise only comes tonearm/stylus is on the record (if that make sense)

It could be the cables, as the cable from the BG goes to RCA converter into the per-amp and out it is the same way with an RCA converter.

If so where to get the right cables? I bought them on eBay from a high ranked seller and they are gold plated and with GRND.

Any thought or comments is appreciated.

BC 9300 Noise

I bought a few cables for my speakers on eBay and they all say MRK II, but it seems like they all have an issue with my system as they make noise on my speakers and even on my BC9300 -this one is weird as if I use the "eBay" cables the speakers (BL4000, BL8000) start humming and when the CD player goes to next song there comes a short humming sound. When I touch any of the bottoms the are instantly a humming sound. Anything I do even with a Beo 4 I get this short humming sound. I then found some 20 years old MRK I cables and issue is gone.

Here comes the thing I have two systems and if I swop my BC 9300 with my BC2 system where my BL8000 and BL 1 equipped with MRK III original cables all noise is gone but I now have the noise on my BC2

Is it so that the powerlink cables on eBays are just poor quality and makes humming noise? Or is it so the MRK II cables does not work with BL4000, BL8000, BC9300 and BC2??

Anyone have similar experiences?

Thanks

Most ebay B&O spares/cables are crap!

Buy your cables, converters from Steve at Sounds Heavenly. See his advert at the bottom of this page. His stuff is top drawer and postage free worldwide. He will give you good cabling advice regarding avoiding hum etc

Buy belts and other spares from BeoWorld member Dillen

Thanks for your response, I started to sense it was poor cables that I got. Will try them out.

While at it, what pre-amp would you recommend for a BG9500?. Obviously, not a simple question, but say I have a budget a budget on ~$200 and I do not want something ugly there does not really match B&O.

I found that the preamp below worked really well with B&O cartridges as you can boost the signal and tailor the settings.

https://www.whathifi.com/arcam/rphono/review

Plus it had a rumble filter, well built and great sounding

I recommend the Technolink TC-770LC from www.phonopreamps.com

Not pretty but very functional.

Just to follow up on my case.

I bought new cables from Sounds Heavenly and ALL hum is gone. -It took only two weeks to get the package to the US, so very quick service

The cables and splitters I bought on eBay from the US and Germany are complete rubbish. They simply do not work!!! -It is crap as one mentioned.

When I was on it I bought the pre-amp from Sound Heavenly (Hyperwire) and it sounds better than "IAMNOBODY" and "Dynasty" that I've tried out. Now one thing they have in common is the design, they all look like a engineering hobby job from the '70 with very strong LED lights.

Thank you for the comments and the help on getting my rattle n' hum to disappear.

I also recommand ROTEL RQ970 as phono pre-amplifier for all Beogram with MC Cartridge.

On our beocenter 9500, we have the phono input, but the Rotel is much better.
