First thing is to get a preamp, then you will have to find a sound in connection on your TV, or best of all send a mail to Steve at Sounds Heavenly at the bottom of this page and ask for the possibilities.

Thanks for the swift response.

Life's exciting. I lost my albums 16 years ago. So I taken delivery of my top ten all time best on vinyl.

i did email Steve at Sounds heavenly and he put me right - needing a pre-amp. I bought one cheaply off eBay and today plug it in and am now listening to said albums.

But the hum!  Help anyone.

I've read much about earthing or grounding.  Really don't know what the problem is.

any suggestions?

thanks

You have a grounding problem, by the sound of it!

Did you buy the cables from Steve or from ebay??

Connect a wire from to ground (chassis) on BG 4000, to ground on preamp, and from preamp to TV or amp.

Hi Mountainmacman,

I think that your pre-amp and cables may have come from a different ebay seller.  If this is the case, I would suggest going back to the seller who provided the cables to ask if they have provided both the audio ground and chassis ground points in the cabling to prevent the hum.

If you have any problems, please feel free to email me a photo of the cables and pre-amp that you bought and I will be happy to advise further.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.
