I am desperately needing some help with getting my system working again, everything was ok even after I removed (flattened) and recharged the Beo5 battery, a week later I noticed one item was missing from the Beo5 screen (DVD2) so I went into the Beo5 setting and after a little messing around fathomed how to DVD2 back on its screen and that's when all the problems started ! things seemed to stop working through the Beo5, eventually everything went back to normal except the Humax Foxsat-HDR, this was programmed into the Beo5 some years ago and I haven't got a clue what I'm doing wrong (if anythnig) ! I have gone int the Beosystem 3 on screen "connections" I have entered what I think are the correct settings but I'm not 100% sure !!

The HDMI cable is in socket "B"

I've entered

AV3 ?

SOURSE:                       DVD2 ?(other choice is PC)

AUTO SELECTION:       NO ?      ( YES or NO)

HDMI                              B

SOUND INPUT              HDMI ?  (Other choice S/P-DEF ??)IR

YPbPr ???                     NO

AV3 - AV1 ??                 NO

STORE

SET-TOP BOX              HUMAX FOX SAT HDR

CONTROL                    IR        (IR PLUG)

STANDBY OPTIONS   OFF AT SOURSE CHANDE (NOTHING HAPPENS)

When I press  FREESAT on the BEO5 you can hear the SYSTEM FIRE UP BUT IT DOSN'T WAKE THE FOXSAT, EVEN WITH THE FOXSAT SWITCHED ON WITH A TV CHANEL SHOWING IT DOES NOT PICK IT UP

I CAN GET THE PICTURE UP BY SAY GOING INTO ANOTHER BEO5 SCREEN OPTION BUT I CAN ONLY ALTER CHANELS ETC. WITH THE FOXSAT REMOTE (SOUND WORKS WITH BEO5)

I'VE JUST REMOVED THE BEO5 BATTERY AND FLATEND IT, I'M GOING TO RECHARGE IT AND SEE !!!!!

ANY IDEAS WHAT I SHOULD BE ENTERING  INTO THE  "CONNECTIONS"  SETTINGS

DESPERATE AS IV'E GOT WIRES AND STUFF EVERYWHER

HI and welcome to Beoworld!

Have you checked that the STB IR cable has not become dislodged or disconnected?  This is the thin cable plugged into the appropriate IR socket on the TV, and its IR transmitter should be taped carefully over the IR sensor part of the Humax front panel.

yes I've  checked that, but that's what it seems like, it's as if it isn't sending a signal, but if I turn the Foxsat on an put it on a TV channel (in the Foxsat window) when i press Freesat on the Beo 5 remote nothing happens, the green light shows on the B&O wall receiver and then goes off after 3/4 seconds

Everything was working until I went into the Beo5 remote, I eventually managed to illuminate the missing DVD2 on the screen but then everything seemed to go haywire but after playing around everything works except the Foxsat HDR and I've been playing around with the on screen "connection" settings and I wonder if this is where I'm going wrong

I think you might have 3 different issues here! Are you using the BEO5 Configuration Tool (CT) on a PC or are you going into the Settings on the BEO5?

If you are not using the CT and are editing buttons on the remote you need to be careful as without the CT you may not be able to undo any changes you make on the remote.

The three issues I see are

1 - BEO5 setup seems to have changed.

2 - You may have changed the settings on the TV so they no longer match how the BEO5 was programmed.

3. Was the Humax box being controlled by IR direct from the BEO5 or by a PUC?

I don’t think the missing DVD2 button is battery related although the remote may have reset to factory settings when it was dead. Go into the BEO5 settings (Red dot button and center button) and click on Config. It says Custom, Default and store. Custom should be highlighted in Red. If Default is red then it needs to be returned to Custom. Press Custom so it goes red and store. Hopefully all your buttons are now there.

Do you know if the Humax was being controlled by PUC? If it was, there would be a wire coming out of the CTRL socket on one of the AV sockets on the BS3 then leading to the front of the Humax with the little black emitter on the end. If there is a wire you need to go into the connections menu that you have described. You say you have entered AV3 – you need to enter the AV number that has the IR emitter plugged in.  That IR emitter may have come loose from the front of the HUMAX. You also need to make sure that you assign the HDMI input number the Humax is connected to.

Try this then let us know

UPDATE - My Humax is set to OFF AT TV STANDBY

I have removed flattened and replaced the battery again, all the buttons are present on the Beo5 screen but I will go through the the "custom" setup.

the Humax box is controlled by the iR from the Beo5, the iR connection is good and it is in the the position taped over the Humax iR receiver

(secure and never moved)

What is PUC ?, the wire is plugged in to the "CTRL" socket  next to SPDiF and above the SCART  at AV1, Could my entering AV3 be the problem ?

I don't have any configuration tool

PUC is the IR controller built in to The BS3.  If it is plugged into AV1 then you need to use that in setup not AV3. Hopefully that is the problem

With Beovision TVs and BS3 the remote sends B&O codes to the TV/BS3 and the PUC controller converts them (To Humax codes in your case) then sends them down the cable to the emitter.

BEO5 can do this, but can also have non B&O (such as Humax) codes put in its memory and control without the PUC. Yours is being PUC controlled.

I have managed to sort it out, I think it was the on screen settings, it looks like when you enter connections you have to re input some of them ! so between the Beo5 remote and the on screen connections I must have made some alterations, I used a variant of your settings but the DVD would only turn it on and I had to then go into the  Beo5 Freesat buttons but a little more playing around and I've got it turning on and all working from the Beo5 Freesat button & freesat menus.

I have made a note of the on screen & cable connections as I think it could make life easier in the future

Now for the DVD2, that should be a piece of cake

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

I think that could have been the main problem because at one point I moved the iR controller to AV3 and I was using that set up, later I moved it back to AV1 and must have stumbled across the correct set up as you explained above

Thanks for the help

I am glad that has worked. Because the BEO5 is usually set up by the dealer for a specific installation, if you change anything it may no longer work. With a BEO4 that is not a problem because that works in all situations. With a BEO5 you cannot easily update or change components unless you ask your dealer to reprogram or you do it yourself.

I love my BEO5 and BEO6 especially because you can program it with almost any IR codes  if you have the configuration tool and the knowhow.
