Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum and B&O world.

I have a Beovision 7-40 type no:9354

I have 2 questions:

My SKYTV box has HDMI output, I have used a HDMI to SCART converter box and connected it to the A2 Start input and linked to to the DTV.

The picture is slightly compressed and it exceeds the viewable area of the TV. example the branding logo of the channel goes of the edge of the viewable area...how do I get the picture to fit the screen correctly and the proportions correctly? I have a similar issue with some DVDs where the picture is 'zoomed' in....

My second question is reeky two regarding the picture itself, it seems a but dark...I am not sure if that is age related, but the picture quality on DVDs is outstanding and very sharp and crisp....almost too crisp, the picture feels like its almost home video, the softness or movie feel seems to not be there....

Thanks for any help!!

Cheers,

Tim

A Very Warm Welcome to Beoworld..

Can you please clarify the type number for your apparent BeoVision 7-40?

A BeoVision 7 Type 9350 that you stated is 32 inch and was sold in Thailand!!

A BV7-40 with the type number 9354 must be a MK1 version.....happy new year, Keith!

A Very Happy New Year to you as well..

Yes a Mark 1, BUT a 9350 is a BV7-32 not a BV7-40

Hi Tim,

that problem is well known - the reason is the different resolutions of the source and the screen of the tv.

I know of no remedy there.

Have you tried toggling through the different Picture Modes (of the BV7)?

Sure, but in the op the type number 9354 is mentioned:

Select FORMAT followed by 3 via Beo4 remote.

It will tell the TV to display 16:9 format.

As your scart adaptor most likely does not provide any voltage to pin 8 of the scart connector the TV does not know what format to use.

On a BV6 I build my own adaptor and provided 5V via a USB cable to PIN 8.

As a result the TV displays the input in 16:9 format.

Nice solution!

I wish someone could make this ‘buyable’ - seems a lot of people nowadsys are strugling to get their treasured old BV7/6’s to work as best as can be.

HI,

This solved the the picture fitting with in the screen and removed all the distortion and stretching....

I have now hot another issue...the HDMI to Start convert I purchased has burnt out in a month...any suggestions?  Is there a quality fix for this??

Thanks,

Tim
