Hi everyone,

i have an a question. In a 5.1 set up with BL17 as front, BL11 sub, and  BL6002 as surround, the correct setting of the center channel on Eclipse is:  Eclipse-C center front active  and Eclipse-L and Eclipse_R disactive,  or  C-L-R set all center front active ?

Many thanks

I have all of mine set as centre and have fronts also.

There is a post from Geoff about how to set this up.

but with that set up the 'Output channel allocation' is 7.1

Is this correct?

It is but it’s actually 5.1 but says 7 because you have three channels doing centre

No that is not 7.1. You only have 3 center speakers instead of one. The center will be more powerful than with only 1 center. You might experience a bit of odd sound experience as the center is a bit wide. Geoff explained in the video of Henrik of B&O Technik Forum on youtube how you can set up the three speakers in Eclipse in combination with speakers LF and RF, LR and RR.

To have 7.1 you need surround hight speakers. Also be aware that your BL11 is not too powerful and will not give you the full theater experience, therefore you”ll need a BL2/19/14sub.

My guess is the bass management on Eclipse will send the bass to BL17 instead of BL11.

If setup as center speakers (3x) in Eclipse it will not say 7.1., just counts as 1 speaker

I stand corrected: the sound info on Eclipse will say 7.1 output indeed. But it is not a 7.1 setup. The true image processor is sending the center channel to the three speakers in the Eclipse

Yeah it quotes the three channels as separate.

I have my sound setup as Geoff said and it’s excellent.

I think from memory it was to have all three set to centre but middle one set about 0.2 meters further than the outer to get the middle first.

Decibels are also changed I think middle is +1.5 and outer centres are -1.0

I think Geoff would recommend not to do that as it would introduce different delays in the sound and less optimal for dialogue. But I don’t remember where I might have read or heard it now.

But I believe the center should always be just the center. Right and left should be off.

Many thanks ,but I am a bit confused.

So what seems to be the best solution to set the central channel ?

Define best? Either of these options are great if they work in your room and you like the sound of it. I personally don’t like it as much, so it’s just another speaker group for me.

Both ways, but my default is just the center stack of speakers on as center.
