Dear All,
I hope this is the right place to ask this. I've got a Beoline PSTN base and 3 Beocom 6000 handsets. 2 handsets are connected to the base and all ok. I have come to add the third handset but it says - "battery flat" and shows the flat battery icon. Then it says Locked - No Signal. then it switches off
However, the battery is not flat - I've put a new pack in, and put a fully charged pack in, so this is incorrect.
When I try to unlock by pressing the dot nothing happens. It won't let me access the menu system to deregister/re-register it. I have looked though the manual but can't find a reference to this problem
Any advice appreciated
thank you
Simon
Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
RF chip failure is quite a common fault on the Mk1 BC6000 handsets, and sadly not repairable without replacing the motherboard..
But first lets check if yours is a Mk1 or Mk2. Does the button to the left of the wheel say 'AV' or is it a white dot?
Guy,
Its a Mark 1 based on his statement "When I try to unlock by pressing the dot nothing happens" which I take as the DOT button only found on the mark 1's
You are right the most likely fault is the RF chip, however given apparently the button does not work it could also be a problem with the rubber conductors from the keypad to the pcb.
Regards Keith....
^ Yes I saw that too but though he may be referring to the centre of the wheel - always best to check!
If it is indeed a Mk1, I would be trying a handset reset: (dot) 7 000 9.
Also, I have found that placing it on a PSTN base sometimes forces them back to life!
Hello Keith and Guy,
thank you for the replies. My phone has a black dot to the left of the wheel. I'll try that reset code first then. Its been sitting on a charger base all night and it has a new battery pack in which I charged in another handset and checked. It still claims this battery is flat even though it plainly isnt
Ill try that code and get back to you
You are also suppose to enter a code when you fit a new battery: 9 # 9 # 9 * 655 OK
Hi Both
OK I've tried the suggestions of the battery code and the reset code - however there's a problem. As soon as I turn it on, it says battery flat: Locked - even though the battery is full, BUT it starts shutting down immediately and there isn't time to get the code in before it displays 'powering off'. So, I don't know if the codes got accepted or not.
there is indeed a dot to the left of the wheel so its a `Mk1 as you say.
Hmmm.... am a bit stuck now
Sorry but I have run out of ideas!!
It might be time to give up and start looking for a replacement on eBay - the Mk1s usually go relatively cheaply - I wouldn't pay more than £30. Make sure that you get a working one, and be aware that if you buy a foreign (eg Danish) mk1 then you will not be able to change the menu to English (only the Mk2s have this ability).
What type of battery is in your Phone. Is it made by Sanyo or a company with the initials GP? Both batteries are 3.6 volt, but the GP batteries give all sorts of funny problems even when fully charged externally from the phone.
There were two types of battery, one was a 620mAh (Milli Amp Hour) and the other was 700mAh. Sanyo makes both, but the mAh is not marked on most batteries I have seen..
Given that you have charged and tested the battery in another phone its clearly less like to be the battery, but it is worth checking anyway..
I can only assume that a fault on the main board is drawing higher current than it should. So, if this is the case the only way to solve that it change the module..
Since discovering the price of replacement batteries (presumably Sanyo) from official B&O sources, I have been using these 'Cameron Sino' versions for the past 10 years with good results:
