Hi guys,
My name is Tim and I am very new to B&O. And I am not really experienced with the current possibilities and techniques...
I bought a used Beosound 8 (love design and look ´n feel) with a lightning adapter. Don´t have any Apple devices.
I have two questions (the first may sound a bit stupid...):
1. How can I switch the BS8 on? Is it only working with a device on it? If I press the operation switch nothing happens... Only the up and down arrow switches work with white lights flashing. When the seller demonstrated it to me everything worked fine...
2. If I have turned it on I want to have it wireless... Therefore I bought a Dolry Hifi Stone, but I am not able to load the app (it is not available anymore... Is it anyhow possible to work with that thing (which should work very well) or can I throw it in the rubbish? Are there any alternatives to the Dolry? I want to control the device with my Huawei P30 Pro, playing Spotify or anything like that... A BT adapter would be fine for me as well... If possible 5.0. There is e.g. an Adapter from Invery, but this one shouldn´t work with B&O the seller said... So which one can you recommend? I am also open for any kind of WIFI solution, which works with the BS8...
Thanks for your help guys! Descriptions and links are highly welcome to a "non technical" newcomer...
Cheers!
Hi Tim
The BS8 is a good looking and good sounding device - I am sure you will like it once you get it up and running.
It seems that you want to use it with the Dolry adapter.
However, that device supports Airplay - which is of no use in your case - and DLNA, which is only needed, when you play files from a local networked server (do you want to do that?). Through the app you could have access to internetradio as well.
Since you can not load the app, you will have no way to configure (and use) the Dolry.
My advice would be to buy either one of the now discontinued ChromeCast Audio devices (still available on the second hand market) or a modern (5.0) Bluetooth adapter. Both provide an analog output that you can feed into the line-in connection found at the back of the BS8. Please use a fitting adapter cable.
(Personally I’d prefer the CCA solution).
The line-in of the BS8 has autosense, which means that the BS8 will turn on once the is an incomming signal.
You can either control the volume with the ‘arrows’ on the front or via the sending device/mobile phone - the ‘skip-arrows’ will have no functions there.
You could alternatively get a preused Beo4 to control the volume remotely.
The 30 pin adapter on the top - in your case - is not to be used.
Hope this helps.

?
To me? Got nothing...
Hi MM,
thanks for your information and enlightening me... Well, I will give the CCA a try I think... I have read a bit and the CCA isn´t possible to support music via Youtube (because there is not only the audio, but also the video signal and CCA is not able to separate these two signals?)?! Is that correct? If I plug in e.g. an Iphone 4S in the dock - will Youtube Music work then as well?
Aaaah, have it!
Sorry and thanks mate!
If you are paying for YouTube Music, you can cast to any chromecast device /CCA included)

I will make a new video on how to remove the dock, and also how pull the wire out the back so you can add a lightning cable. I am just waiting for my lightning extension cable to arrive in the mail.
I took a trial with YouTube Music to check now, and I can 100 % confirm that YoutTube music works with Chromecast Audio.
Hey guys,
had a nice appointment with a guy, who sold me a Chromecast Audio today...Gave me lots of information about how it works, how it could be extended, multiroom music etc etc.Was nice...
Back home I configured the CCA with my Beosound 8 and now everything is working perfectly! Thanks for your help and your hints - I am very happy!
@Leo:looking forward to your video...Maybe I also will disassemble the dock then... :)
