Just wondered if anyone has any ideas. I have the Beosystem 4500 and the cassette player is giving me some really problems. I have taken it to get repaired, (it was playing all wobbly) and the drive belt has been replaced. Taken it home and checked it, playing all okay (sounding great), but after a while, trying to skip tracks or go forward or back, it just turns off the whole systems completely, the amp and everything!! Checked it a few times, and it does the same thing, so I cannot go forward, back, or skip any tracks, but it will just play all okay?? Does anyone have any idea why it would do this. Person I took it to be repaired said it could be old tapes that are sticky, but I have played some more recent tapes and it still does the same thing! They are scratching their heads, and so am I!! Really hope I can fix this, will be a shame not to forward or rewind any tapes!! Also do some of the sections on the amp stop working over time? The MUTE switch has been repaired, but the numbers for choosing programmed radio stations, some don't work, and the SOUND button seems to have to be pressed harder to get to work, is this normal?
Wrong belts (too tight belts) will make the deck go into standby when the motor is loaded hard (wind/rewind).Make sure correct belts are fitted (= not something off Ebay etc. which could have the correct sizes (sort of or not) but typically a wrong elasticity/friction).The Beomaster problem could point to a glass panel about to come lose.Careful. Don't allow it to fall off and break.

Thanks Martin
Interesting about the correct belts. I will chase up the company that repaired this for me and ask them to change the belt again see if this will help! I took both cassette deck and amp to Quality Dream Audio in Sussex, supposed to be B&O Specialists!!?
I will take them both back again maybe this week, hopefully get this sorted, I will post on here how I get on!

The repair(s) must be under warranty, I should think.
Well the cassette player worked all okay when I took it back last week!! No problems with it at all, we were all stumped, why would it not work in my house but works okay when taken back to the repair shop!!? A faulty remote was suggested, but I have checked this back at home and taken the batteries out and put the remote in a different room in the house out of the way. So I tried the cassette player in my garage, on a different mains from inside the house, and of course it worked all okay, forward and rewind and skip!! So there is something in the house that is causing the problem? Anyone else had any problems with and B&O players being affected by wifi or adaptors for improving wifi around the house? My son has put some around different rooms that send wifi around with the electrics in the house, so I am wondering if that has affected the cassette player, which must then be very sensitive? Also there is the Sky Q box and that is connected to a smaller box in the kitchen by wifi, so something is definitely affecting the cassette player. I am getting a special extension cable to try that is supposed to help, will see what happens when this comes.
