I bought this cheap from a local guy and other than it having a missing stylus (although with a MMC4 cartridge) the only other problem was that it wouldn't power up, I've had a multimeter on it and cannot detect any kind of electrical life whatsoever.I have re-soldered all the connections have drawn the conclusion that the transformer is indeed faulty.
As I mentioned elsewhere I bought some cheap parts from a US seller but of course the transformer is not UK voltage. The transformer itself is part # 8013329 (the identical number to that on the cheap local purchase) it's just that the mains connections and tapping bridges are different. Does anyone know if it's just a simple matter of changing the wiring on the US version to mirror that of the UK transformer? All the other components and connections seem to be identical so I'm hopeful that the solution is a simple one!
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks for any help in advance¬
Check if there are a fuse in your main plug, some UKs have it.
Take out the fuse F1 from the deck, connect mains, check voltage on incoming side of transformer, check secondary side of transformer, if OK check rectifier, if OK insert fuse F1and try again
If you change the transformer it should look like this
There are manuals onsite for silver and gold members.

Thanks Soren, I have checked the fuse in the plug and it's OK as I have also checked the continuity of the cable carrying the mains current and all are working correctly. Also the fuse in the Beogram is good, as is the secondary side of the transformer. So now it looks like the rectifier may be suspect as there is not a trace of power passed that point.
So rather than unsolder the rectifier in the UK unit I intend to rewire the US unit and replace the suspect UK one. I'll let you know how I get on...... I am grateful for your help.... thanks!
SUCCESS!
She is working like a dream!
Thanks!
Well done !
