Hi everyone :) I have this Beomaster 3000-2, I tried turning it on, but all that happens is that it produces this loud buzzing.
Here is a video of the problem:https://youtu.be/_xqNFT_imoII am a novice when it comes to B&O, but happy to learn! Hope some of you can point me towards a solution! Thanks in advance!
Best Regards, Christian
Hi Christian,
In your utube it looks like the sound is coming from the unit itself and it seems that the buzzing noise is increasing in the first 5-10 seconds. Is this correct?
If so and provided there are no speakers connected yet, my first guess is magnetostriction. That means an aging transformer with less than perfect coatings on the core iron laminates and/or windings is causing the buzz. Degrading rubber bushings intended to avoid transmission of those vibrations to the chassis can be another cause of enhanced buzzing.
You'll have to open up the unit to pinpoint the actual source of that noise.
Anyway, you said "I tried turning it on, but all that happens is..." and this suggests that buzzing is all the unit does!?
We need more details and maybe a bit of history of that unit to be able to help.

The transformer can also hum from an overload.Isolate the transformer secondary and try again.Still humming - replace the transformer. No longer humming - check for shorted output stage(s) or bad filter capacitor.
