So frequently Bang and Olufsen in their older pamphlets, brochures, and literature they will show the wiring for speakers like a pair of beo lab 5000‘s been concealed in aluminum tubing. Can anyone make a recommendation of exactly the kind of aluminum tubing that I should purchase to match what is used and shown in these old pictures or tubing to match the classic Stands?

This might be what you're looking for

I used Google Translate  on the Beomac.com site.

Bosscom make some nice stuff but people have found them difficult to deal with.

I also see the tubing or ducting come up on the usual auction site, but quite rarely.

thank you so much for the replies.  i have a good source for american metal, in general, and they are pretty good about finding esoteric stuff.  it would help to know the exact specs.  this is where my knowledge starts to slip, like, what OD and finish would i get to match B&O stands?  say i wanted a tube that would exactly match the vertical support of a beosound 9000 floor stand what would I get?  what terms would i give to a metal supply to try and match the diameter and finish?

Hi, it is most likely a 6060 alloy, if not a special high gloss alloy. If you go with 6060 (AlMgSi 0.5) you'll have to polish the surface until you reach the high gloss surface. Finally B&O take the aluminium through an anodising surface treatment process where the surface is sealed and hardened.

Button line: not an easy diy job.

You can watch this and more videos showing the proces

Again, thanks for the replies. I’ve found a supplier in CT, USA of anodized aluminum tubing. Think I’ll go with that in 5’ sections 1” OD. It’s got a matte surface. Think that would be ok?  They also have stainless steel in a highly polished surface. It’s like 2:1 cost. Not a big deal, but I’d love to go with the cheaper option if y’all thought it would look ok. Aren’t most B&O stands matte?
