I'm considering buying one of the 2019 LG TVs (OLED55E9PLA or OLED55B9PLA).

Does anyone know if I will be able to connect my existing Beoremote One to either of these models or indeed other smart TV brands/ models?

Thanks!

Is this confirmed? I see the TV needs the Bang & Olufsen all installed fr the LG Content Store. I wonder if it is device software limited to just the C9 and if anyone has tried installing it on other 2019 models? I just bought a B9 (released after the C9 but cheaper) and am thinking of returning for a C9 if B&O don't plan on supporting the B9 😭

Iam (fairly) sure it’s C9 and up, i think it’s the internal processor that matters. The B9 has the same as the C8, and the C9 and up have a totally new and much more powerfull processor. Don’t know why it matters but it seems to matter, maybe it’s the speed the signals can be processed at?

That would imply that the E9 should be okay since it also has an upgraded processor? I honestly don't think it is about processor performance and if anything would be a forced software lisoftware because the B&O harmony is a C9 underneath so that's the only platform they've actually done testing for.

Another point is that the Beoremote One pairs with the attached B&O device itself, either the Stage or the Harmony, and not directly with the LG TV. Communication is then done with the network cable from the Stage or Harmony to the TV.

A Beoremote One may perhaps be paired directly with a LG TV alone, but likely with reduced functionality, for example without any LIST options or limited displayed options.

Regards,

Jean

I don’t think it’s a b&o restriction at all, iam 98% sure it’s something LG mandates. There is atleast another panel type that they’re testing on beyond the C range as i’ve been told.

B&O has no objection to making it possible for C8’s, but just like with apple, WebOs is a walled garden so LG decides what they allow and don’t allow.

I’m using a Beosound Core. Do you mean the 2-way communication between beoremote and the c9 is facilitated via the core?

Let’s wait for the 2010 models, where the better processors - probably - can be found in more LG-OLEDs.

No, with the Core you can have sound from a tv using the optical input.....nothing more, nothing less.

You can control the/communicate with the Core using the BROne, but there is no way it can recognize a tv/the C9 this way.

John from B&O Manchester mentioned the LG Z9, which is the 88" 8K OLED from LG. This panel will probably be the screen for the 88" Harmony. The Z8 can be used with the Stage too.

Otherwise you'll have to hope for BeoSystem 5...

The only differences between the C9 & E9 are the speakers in the E9 and the plastic cosmetic trim. Other than that they share the same processor and panel. The C9 is the choice of panel for the Harmony as it sits flush to the top of the speakers and it doesn’t require the in built LG speakers, the later is the same for when partnering it to a Stage.

I was told, that the app appears in the LG C9 menu, if e.g. the stage is connected to the tv. Otherwise it is hidden.

Found an interesting link in case people haven’t already seen. It’s about the Stage though speaks of C9 connectivity to beoremote. https://bogob2b.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1057712/~/can-i-control-my-beosound-stage-with-beoremote-one%3F

The screen needs to be updated to version 4.0.6 first which currently is only available to dealers via USB. You then switch off the screen and back on again. Download the B&O app from the LG content store and pair the BR1 to the stage.

I would like to know if the Beoremote One BT can be Bluetooth-paired directly with LG C9 (without BeoSound Stage or Harmony). I think LG’s original remote seems very “cheap and plastic-like” compared to the design and materials B&O stand for. For instance, I love the fact that it can be Bluetooth-paired directly with Apple TV4

Hope for a positive answer - and let me know all the details about what will work with LG C9 - and not, thanks.

Ditto... Given how the thread started out you get the impression that the remote can indeed control the C9, but then it starts to sound more and more like it's only the specifc case that a BS Stage is connected via HDMI

You can’t!

The LG/C9 s controlled via the BS Stage.

You will need the direct physical connection (the ethernet cable) to establish the communication between both - in addition to the HDMI/CEC connection.

And you need a specific sw/app installed on the LG.

Hi Millemissen,

I have seen a danish authorised seller sell an "upgrade" to a Beovision 7 floor stand with a Beolab 7 speaker.

They simply add on a LG C9 to the floor stand with a adapter bracket, and it should then work with the Beolab 7 speaker.

They also sell an upgrade to a B&O remote so it can control the tv.

If the BS Stage is controlling the LG C9, how can this be possible, since this setup is without af BS Stage?

Looking forward to hear, since I am really hoping the BeoRemote can work with the tv alone.

Has anyone tried to pair a BeoRemote One directly to a LG television via bluetooth (like you could do directly to the Apple TV?). I am also very curious whether this would work.

The Stage isn’t really an option as it doesn’t allow for surround sound but if you can pair the BeoRemote One directly to the LG and also get an Axiim Link to offer surround sound to Wisa speakers it suddenly becomes a complete surround sound system with the BfO remote.

It doesn't. It only works via the Stage, which is connected via LAN to your LG TV. And even then it's not the same as using the BeoRemote with the Eclipse. No PUC control, so you can't access some external boxes such a Sky Q.
