Hi all,
I am a starting b&o enthousiast and I recently got a new appartment with my girlfriend. I was ‘put in charge’ of the audio department and started looking around the internet for a relatively inexpensive solution to get great sound with a fancy look.
As it stands now, I have 2 Beovision 7 stands with the Beolab 7.1 standing behind our couch, hooked up to an Airport Express 2 which offers us a great way to either connect it to our Apple tv or our phones. Before purchasing the stands, i figured it would be a matter of unscrewing the soundbar mount on the stand and simply attach it to the hardpoint meant for the Beovision. This turned out to be much harder than i innitially anticipated.
Does anybody have experience with what I’m trying to do?
(I’ve also considered cutting the pole off, just above the the ‘cable hole’ to get rid of the unnecessary length but I’m afraid this will completely ruin the clean look if I mess it up.)
Any help or ideas would be highly appreciated!
Kind regards,
Gys
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
Thank you for your reply!
Yes, ideally I would love to have the soundbar at the height of the tv mount.
I’ve just pealed off the top cover and didn’t find any threading. I also couldn’t find a way to detach the pole from its base.
I’ve tried to flip the bracket upside down to see how that would work if I could flip the pole but I’m only able to line up one screwhole (won’t be a very secure fit). Measuring the distance to the top or bottom from the soundbar mounting point, gives me more or less the same distance (+/- 45cm) so it would seem flipping it over won’t actually give the soundbar an increased height, only a weaker connection to the pole.
it seams like cutting of the excess part of the pole will be the only option. Do you have any recommendations on how to give the pole a very clean cut or any other solution?
You could possibly use a combination of STB brackets 'C-1' bracket (which clamps to the pole and provides a flat mounting surface) and a BL7.1 wall mount, but it's not a cheap option unless you can find the brackets cheap second hand.
EDIT: I meant to add that it's quite easy to remove the pole from the base. From memory you expose the base, and then rotate the pole/base until you can access the mounting screws that go upwards from the base into the pole. I have disassembled on my last 4 house moves!
I like your idea Gys! As a more general thought - many very nice BV1 stands can be obtained very cheaply nowadays (with the BV1 on top). I especially love the very tall ones! But so-far I have not found a purpose for one. If I am not wrong their pole is central to the base, but a thin oled TV should be OK to mount to the pole no?
You are right! I was able to detach the pole from its base now. Comparing the top with the bottom, now I see what Leosgonewild meant with the threadholes.
That could be an option if this project miserably fails. However, I don’t want to attach a tv to the stand, just the soundbar so for now I’ll stick to what I have!
Hi Gys, sure, was by no means meant to let you move away from your plan. Just a thought that I wanted to share with you and other forum readers :-).
Hi Guys,
I would like to say i completed the modification. Thank you all for helping me out. I’m very happy with the result and I don’t think I’ll even bother cutting the top bit off now since it looks much cleaner now without the tv mount. I only had to find 2 extra screws that were long and narrow enough to fit in the new threading. Again, thank you, couldn’t have done it without your guys’s help!
Now all that’s left for me is to find a way to get rid of the scratches on topside of the speaker but i doubt that’s even possible.
Great news - maybe post a photo?
What are your speakers and what colour are they ? e.g. Mahogany, Teak , Cherry
Noel.
You'd be surprised about finding a solution to the scratches. Find a Howard Products seller ,and you can get Restore-a-finish to apply to the scratches , it is really amazing, you don't have to strip back and sand and re-coat.
Any questions just ask.
JUst did a search, and if you look up Howard Products UK you will find "justpuddingbasins" as a seller .
You need restore-a-finish to rejuvenate your speakers and remove the scratches.
Or do you mean the scratches on top of the soundbar?
Sorry,I just realised that you want to remove scratches from the top of the soundbar. What material is it? Aluminium or Timber?

Hi Noel,
The top of the speaker is covered in (what i believe is called) soft touch plastic, it feels a bit rubbery. I’m not sure whats underneath (i think aluminium).
I believe there’s no easy fix other than gettig rid of the whole layer and spraypaint the smooth surface.
Thanks for thinking allong:)
