Hi,

I am interested in purchasing a beosound 4 to pair with my beolab 3s. But I also plan to connect non-b&o dvd player or TV to the beosound 4. I know the bs4 has AUX in, can I connect bs4 to dvd player or TV through AUX connection? Am i going to lose any sound quality this way?  As I am not sure which unit actually does audio processing. is the volume controlled by bs4? And does bs 4 has digital audio in?

Also, would i experience aduio/video delay issue through this set up? because there might not be lip sync function in dvd player and TV

my idea set up:

bs4 =>beolab 3s through powerlink

bs 4 => dvd player or TV through AUX analog connection

DVD player => TV through HDMI

Sorry to ask too many questions, I am newbie.

Welcome to Beoworld ... and don't worry, with products as sophisticated as B&O's we all are newbies in one area or another -- and often we have conflicting views which makes for great debating -- but we are all virtual friends here, so welcome

yes you can

Am i going to lose any sound quality this way?

possibly - but compared to what ? compared to using the Beolab 3s in line interface mode ?

As I am not sure which unit actually does audio processing.

the DVD and/or TV will be doing the processing

is the volume controlled by bs4?

yes, but no source controls of the DVD and/or TV

And does bs 4 has digital audio in?

no

I think there would be no delays, since the BS4 will not be doing any processing, simply managing the AUX in to the Power Link out.

my idea set up:

bs4 =>beolab 3s through powerlink

bs 4 => dvd player or TV through AUX analog connection

DVD player => TV through HDMI

I think that should work; might find that

   "bs 4 => dvd player or TV through AUX analog connection"

is better
