Hi all,
I've been restoring a lovely old Beomaster 1700 and got over many problematic issues, but I've made a discovery today that the (tuning side) belt has a split in it - not all the way across yet (probably half way), has anyone had any exprience of using an adhesive tape to stop the split going any further ? and what tape was it ? or, does anyone have any recommendations ?

I read some time ago that someone had used a car alternator/water pump/dynamo/cam belt to replace a broken belt, but couldn't remember which car it was for - does anyone have more information on this - or does anyone know where I could buy a new belt ? I'm sure there are many of these old machines waiting to be 'junked' just because of this.

My second problem is the tuning string - I'm aware the the sliding AM/MW indicator LEDs are connected somehow to the tuning string (which turn the tuning mechanism), and THERE is a small block on the back of the sliding LED belt, but I'm convinced a piece is missing from this block as I don't see any way of connecting the string to it, the string was found loose  but intact in the bottom of the machine when first opened.

The clutches on the tuning board have been successfully replaced and works just fine, the tuning string has been refitted back onto the tuning mechnism as per the service manual - it's getting the LED board AND the tuning board string connected that's puzzling me.

Any help, or guidance greatly appreciated,

Tim

This is what I'm left with, it looks like something should clip on to the top of the block to attach the tuning string, can anyone confirm this ?
