Hi there,
I've been having problems registering a new Beosound 2 to the B&O app. I'm able to set it up on Google Home fine, but when it sends me back to the B&O app, it simply says it cannot find a compatible device. I've went through the various troubleshoot on the B&O webpage.
I've contact B&O who say this is a known problem and that their development team is aware and trying to fix it. In the mean time, I can't fully set up the speakers.
Questions:
1 - How common is this problem?
2 - Is there a workaround for me to access the equaliser to adjust the speaker settings?
3 - How long does it normally take for B&O to update the app with a fix?
Feeling slightly frustrated. Took three months to receive the product after paying in full for it due to "chip shortage'. Having received it, I can't set it up problem due to problems with the app...
It worked fine almost every time I've tried to register a new device to the app. I had some challenges when I trialed a Level when it first came out, but it worked after a few tries. Sometimes you need to reset the device, other times the app, other times the phone, once in a while, the router.
However, I did notice that there's a new version of the B&O app for Apple, and it mentioned it fixed a "crash during initialization" (working off memory, probably not the exact wording) problem... maybe it's been fixed? Try seeing if there's a new version in the app store.
Otherwise, there's really no way to guess how long it will take. If the problem is common, then I must believe B&O will issue a high priority fix, but then some problems are easier to fix than others so it's not always just about motivation to fix. Might be a few days, or a few months. The joys of software.
I don't think there's any other way to access the "equalizer" than via the app.
Thanks Stan.
I contact B&O and it would appear I'm not the only person experiencing this. There are a couple of recent iTunes reviews from users reporting the same issue. B&O's response to me was:
"Thank you for writing back to us regarding your Beosound 2 2nd Gen. Google Assistant.
We understand you would like to finish the setup of your Besound 2 and that it is frustrating to be able to. Rest assured that our development team is currently working on a solution as quickly as possible. Once the issue has been resolved you will be notified. We apologise for the delay and the inconvenience this may have cause."
I can only hope they sort it out soon. Seems so silly to a premium speakers company to have a single point of failure like this. They should consider other alternatives to setup as well.
The beskytte released BETA app (3.15.2.38374) addresser this problem
What to test…
Fixed finding product when returning from Google Home
The newly released BETA app (3.15.2.38374) address this problem
Unfortunately that version is not on the Apple App Store yet in the UK. Where do you go to download that beta?
As it says, it is a beta app version (for those who participate in betatesting).
I assume, that it will be out as a regular version pretty soon.
