Hi everyone,

I thought this may interest some BeoWorlders - I've come across some nice thick orange curly cables that could be ideal for the old Beovox RedLine speakers and I wondered if anyone else was still using these?

The cables are approx. 3m long when fully stretched, they contract to 50cm when coiled and they "comfortably" sit at a partially stretched length of around 1m-1.5m.

They are thicker than the original B&O cables externally at 7mm diameter and they have 1.5mm squared stranded copper conductors inside (so much better performance than the original cables).

What do you think?  Would you like me to post some photos of the cables or is this not of interest anymore?

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

I am totally interested Steve.

The first time I saw the picture of a RL speaker with the curly cord it hit me that most of us with passive speakers are always hiding our wires and that it was possible that the speaker cables could be a part of the design and personality of a speaker, I was impressed.

If these curly cables were also fabric wrapped or something with texture, then I would be even twice as interested.

Perhaps you could specify a custom design with different colour cores at a site like this (there are a few about) -

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in replying - I am pleased to confirm that I have now been able to source some longer (and nicer) curly cords in gloss black:-

These cables comfortably stretch to around 4m (5m is possible but they are pulled a bit tight at this length), they are approx. 1.5m long when coiled.  The cable has a round cross-section, approx. 5mm in diameter.  If anyone would like more information, please let me know!

Kind regards, Steve.

very spooky Steve as I was looking for "curly" headphone cable extension

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately these are 2-core cables, so you would only get mono sound when using this for headphones.

Kind regards, Steve.

Having fun with my orange curly cords from Steve this morning with the Beosystem 3300, RL60.2, and INXS on cassette.

I think the newer longer cables will be nice, here are the original with only slight stretch. Didn't quite work to have the Beomaster on the table.

Hi,

They aren't original, but I've had a few versions specially made recently to try to recreate the look and style of the B&O cables.

Hi,

If you have the original curly cords, then I agree that they are the best!  Whilst I can't match them exactly, there are a few options to get new cables that are nearly as good.  I would always go with the original cables (if you are lucky enough to find some) for that iconic look.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve, do you still stock curly cables such as these? I have a pair of Beovox 3000 that I would like to bring to new use on a wall where I cannot hide the cables. I figure it best to show the cables, and spiraled would look great. I would only need the 2P DIN jack at one end.

Kind regards from Copenhagen!

Hi StKong,

Thanks for your enquiry.  I am sorry but this cable has to be custom built and so it will not be available until after the UK Corona virus restrictions have been lifted in approx. 3 to 6 months time.  Our standard cables on the website are available for immediate shipping as normal.  Thank you for your patience.

Kind regards, Steve.

Let me know when you can make these again. I’m interested. Maybe a pair of grey. Or red. Would really look amazing with my RL7000 :-)
