Hi,

I recently picked up a beautiful old Beovision L 2802 in immaculate condition.   However it unfortunately does not have a remote and I have no idea if it is usable without one.

When I press the Power Switch, the STANDBY LED lights in the top right corner, and I can then press the STEP button to get it to power up.

It never displays anything on the screen, but then I turn off the power button I can see the nice visual white flash on the tube.

I have tried feeding it RGB over the SCART connector, but still nothing is displayed.

Is a remote absolutely required for the Beovision L/LX TV sets?     and without one, is anything normally displayed on the screen ?

I am trying to work out whether I invest in buying a remote which are quite hard to come by in Australia, or if the TV may be dead.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Without a remote I am afraid that the TV is unusable!  At the very least, you need a remote to select one of the inputs at the back (plus obviously volume etc).

I vaguely recall that on some of these older TVs a long press on the power (or STEP) button may start the tuning process, but I had a search and don't think this applies to the LX2802.  (Also I doubt that Australia are transmitting any compatible analogue TV signals!)

Some TVs of this era had an automatic trigger to tune to the SCART input socket when they detected an input, but again I don't think this applies to the LX2802 (but worth a try?)

Look for a Beolink 1000 (BL1000), or find someone local who has a B&O remote (even later versions such as Beo4) that you can borrow to test the TV first.

Thank you Guy.

I just ordered a Beolink 1000 remote.

I am wanting to use the TV with the SCART input.  Hopefully it does not require too many repairs.

No problem , glad to help.

When the BL1000 arrives, you should be able to select the SCART input by simply pressing V.TAPE on the remote.  If there are any further problems, come back to the forum!
