Hello everybody.
Is my first post here. I am new to the beoworld. I try to help a friend with a quite old stuff. I apologise if this is a stupid question, or it has been answered a hundred times, I could not find it by now. I am not English, so sorry if I made some wrtiting mistakes.
The question is that we have a working setup with a Beosound 9000 (ML linked) with a Beolink video mk ii 1615, directly attached to a Beovision MX7000 with a datalink cable. At the back of the MX7000 there is an audio aux link to one speaker, and another audio link from the first speaker to the second one. I attach a diagram.
The point is: If we remove the Beovision mx7000. What else is needed to be done to keep the beosound working?. Do we neet to replace the 1615 for another hardware?
The 1615 is next to beovision. I guess that if we forget about ML link and we could directly connect the speakers to the beosound with audio aux cables, they should work. Nevertheless, they are far from it and all cabling is done. It should be easier to "put something" that could connect one end of the ML link where the 1615 is placed joining the existing audio aux link which are very close. I could not find a lot of information about beolink video mk ii 1615 and with our testing seems that without mx7000 this setup is not working.
Thanks in advance.
Alfred.
Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
This seems a similar question to the one raised in this thread: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/49238/347578.aspx#347578
... but it is difficult to relate to this if you are new to B&O!
The problem is solvable but I have two questions:
- What sort of speakers are connected to the TV at the moment? B&O, and if so are they Active Beolabs (with their own power source) or passive Beovoxes? They do sound like Beolabs, because they seem to be daisy-chained.
- Is the TV being replaced and if so do you want to connect the new one to the B&O audio system?
(PS - your diagram didn't appear!)
I am posting again because this thread disappeared for a few days after I last posted - such are the ways with Beoworld!
The diagram was there at the link, I just didn't see it! It's a great diagram, and I can see that the speakers are Beolab 8000s connected to the TV by Powerlink.
As in the other linked thread, the simplest solution would be to get hold of a Beolink Active 1636 (with an IR eye), and connect to both Masterlink and the speakers (powerlink). If a third party TV was used this could be connected to the PC input of the Active, thus getting TV sound through the BL8000s.
Hi Alfred,
As Guy has suggested, a Beolink Active is absolutely the way to go if its just speakers to a Beosound 9000 that is situated somewhere else in the house.

Bristol based B&O fan with a collection including the following: BC9500, Beogram 9500, Beosystem 3, BeoVision Avant DVD 32, AV9000, Beolab 3500, Beolab 3000s, Beolab 4s, Beolab 6000s, Beovox Pentas, Beovox 3000s.
Thanks.
The speakers are active beolab 8000 as you guessed. Right now there is no tv, but who knows, maybe in the future it will be there.
If I understood it well, the beolink active should be placed where we have the 1615 now, and the ir eye will let us use the beo4 remote of the old mx7000. Please, let me know it I am wrong.
May I ask you two more questions?
1. Should we care about software versions if we buy Beolink Active 1636? I saw version 1.1 in our beolink video 1615, for example. I do not know it the software version is important in this scenario.
2. About remotes and option: We have two beo4. Would remotes work either with the ir eye of beolink active, or with the beosound 9000 ir receptor, or with both? What should be the option in remote for that?
Thank you very much. I appreciate your help and quick response.
Hi again Alfred
Alfred:If I understood it well, the beolink active should be placed where we have the 1615 now, and the ir eye will let us use the beo4 remote of the old mx7000. Please, let me know it I am wrong.
Yes that is all correct. The Beolab 8000s will connect to the Active instead of to the TV.
Alfred:1. Should we care about software versions if we buy Beolink Active 1636? I saw version 1.1 in our beolink video 1615, for example. I do not know it the software version is important in this scenario.
If you use the A.AUX function (i.e if there is another source plugged into the Aux socket of the BS9000) then the Active must be at least SW1.5. Otherwise, dont worry, as I am 99% certain that any SW version will work.
Alfred:2. About remotes and option: We have two beo4. Would remotes work either with the ir eye of beolink active, or with the beosound 9000 ir receptor, or with both? What should be the option in remote for that?
Yes both remotes should work with either IR eye or BS9000. Assuming that the speakers are in the same room as the BS9000, then the BS9000's IR sensor will be inactive (because no speakers are connected directly to it) and it will receive control signals via the Active over the Masterlink cable.
If you have any problems when it comes to setting up the system, then come back to the forum for more advice.
Thanks again for your help
I will try to buy a Beolink Active 1636 and ir eye to make all work again.
If I face problems, I will come back for advice.
