Hi guys,

Need some help. Have to decide between the Contour 55 or Eclipse 55. Both are gorgeous!

- What is the difference in sound quality?

- Are the OLED panels/picture quality the same?

- Are both TVs future proof (change panels only)?

The Eclipse cost a lot more. Do you think its worth it?

Any other pros/cons (yes, I know the Eclipse has a lot more connectivity possibilities)?

Thanks a lot!

Claus

I'll let other people comment on the comparison, but I'll add one thing about 'future proof'. Nothing in technology is 'future proof'. There's a theory that you might be able to swap out the panel later, but there's no guarantee as they use LG panels and who knows what will come in terms of form factor changes and so on. Maybe nothing in 2-3 years, but 3-5 years, when you'd want to upgrade, you might find LG has moved in to a different form direction entirely.

I wouldn't buy these on the basis of feeling secure you can swap out the panel at a later date as B&O doesn't control this design process. In theory you can, but calling it 'proof' implies it's guaranteed.

Agree.... However, chances of making a new panel fit the Eclipse sound system is higher than fitting into the Contour frame.

If you want 5.1 or 7.1 Eclipse is the right choice.

Hi Claus,

It’s only worth it if you are planning to use other speakers for surround sound.

The Eclipse sound centre acts as an AV Receiver and connects to other WISA or wired Powerlink speakers

The Harmony is a stand alone television with a BeoSound stage, and it cannot connect to other speakers.

So it comes down to that consideration first.
