Hi, I'm looking for some help please.

For years I've had a BC9500 linked to a BV10 via an AAL cable from the BC to a 1611 box and ML cable to the BV... its worked brilliantly, and we love it.

But the whole set up was seperated for the benefit of decorators, and then reasembled. The two main units no longer function together correctly, and I can't work out what's wrong.

I have full control of all units, and each unit works fine on its own, but when operated via the other, there is no sound transfer.

I've tried quite a few things...

1.Reset the Options - as they are in different rooms, both are Option 2 (Audio/Visual as appropiate)

2. Changed the cables AAL, and ML.

3. Borrowed a 1611 from a friend.

4. Made sure the 1611 is the last item to be powered up.

Nothing seems to make any difference. Any ideas please?

Many thanks

Sheridan

Unplug the complete system from the mains!

Plug all the components again. BUT be sure the last plugged in is the T1611.

Edit: sorry, you did this already.

And to be sure, I had read about this before, but still tried it twice more this afternoon. No luck.

I also have an old slighly broken BC9000 which I swopped for the BC9500. Same problem. Control, but no sound from audio sources through the BV10.

Its beginning to look like the BV10 ML internal board/circuitry.

Could it have gone haywire?

Truly puzzled.

How are the option of the BC89500 and BV10 set?

BC9500? Are there speakers connected to the BC?

BV10?

Did you check the TV/AUX connection? Right connections? The same on the T1611?

did you try the command AV CD to start a CD already?

Have you double checked that the AAL cable is connected to the TV/AUX socket (the middle DIN of 5) of the BC9500, and to the AAL socket (not PowerLink) of the 1611?

EDIT: Too slow.  As above!  Smile

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm still well puzzled.

I've double checked all the connections, the option settings and tried many times to power up in different sequences, especially with the 1611 last.

Nothing makes any difference!

From the BV, remoting CD, A.Tape, Radio all make the BC9500 come on, and the TV will control all functions. And the reverse from the BC9500 when remoting TV, Sat etc. All functions work.

There just isn't any sound.

Yet individually both the TV and the BC work fine in their individual rooms, using their own speakers.

I've changed the 1611, and all the cables and still no joy.

What really stupid thing have I forgotten???

Thanks

How about the Masterlink cable? Properly connected? Junction box used? Wiring in junction box?

And if in UK, have you checked the fuse in the 1611's power cable mains plug?

For my experiment I used a new datalink cable and a new ML cable, along with a borrowed 1611.

No change, same no sound result.

Yep, tried an alternative power cable too.

Most bizarre.

Is the new 1611 borrowed same sw version?

I think there are 2 or 3 sw versions.

Long shot

Yes it is. I’ve also a 1614. Same results.

Think I’m at the stage of wanting an expert to home visit.

I’m in Worcestershire.

Happy to pay. Does anyone know such an expert I could contact?

I’d try to change option settings to

BV V.OPT 1

BC A.OPT 1

and try to access audio sources on BV via AV - RADIO ( CD, A.TAPE…)

and try to access video sources (in audio room) via AV - TV (DVD….)

just a guess…..

hope this helps

Stefan

Thanks Stefan.

Have just and same result. For example if I press CD in front of the BV, Tv green light, speakers green light, BC starts playing CD, but no sound from TV.

If BV is set to V.OPT 1, it should not respond at all when you press CD…(?)
