Have a Beocord 9000 (1985) in excellent condition. Was fully functional but not used for past 5 years or so. Wanted to use it again recently but although it powered up OK, display lights, indicators such as tape type, calibration light, levels, etc. worked properly, when pressing "play" it starts but then stops with few centimeters of tape out of the cassette case. Does not FF nor Rewind. Suspect belts are shot. Any idea what is the problem? Not much of a tech person but just love that machine and have extensive collection of tapes I still would like to enjoy. Also, unit is 220 v and being in the US now, am thinking about replacing power supply to 110 v, are parts such as power supply and belts available? Thanks. Le Rabou.

Hi,

The reel belt will be shot. Or one of the rubber tyres. What happens is that there is not enough tape tension. So the capstan/pinch roller do their job but the right reel doesn't have enough torque, hence spilling tape.

Martin/Dillen is our official belt supplier here!
