If B&O one day, in a fantasty scenario, would remake one vintage product, what would be your choice, and motivy why.

For me,I think, Beocord 2400 reel tape recorder, reason:

1. The fantastic audio quality that recording and playback the 1/4 media provide.

2. The culture of prioritating time in life for what you would record and spend time to turn the 4 track tape

3. It was a super-great machine

It will be very interesting to see what peoples choices would be, if there would be some common dominiator

A remake of the classic BeoLit 39 with DAB Radio and Airplay.  Casing in Aluminium, grille in wood.

That would be an epic modern-day twist on a true classic!

Beolab 5000 amp, Beomaster 5000 tuner, with the modern digital mods, but still with phono preamp and tape connections, build in wireless speaker connections

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I was thinking about this when this thread first appeared - the obvious products seemed to be:

the Beogram 4000 - but vinyl is a tiny niche product

The afore mentioned Beocord 2400 (actually I would do the 1800) - but reel to reel tape was always a minority interest and even more niche nopw that vinyl - use a HDD

Speakers are not suitable - the classic cube was re-intepreted as the BL3 which is a proper speaker.

So the Beolit 39 is the obvious choice (the Hyperbo Steel could be the alternative!) I can see no reason why a very similar design could not be produced with the refinements suggested and I am sure it would be a huge hit. Make it able to stream to the wireless speakers and a decent interface and it would superb!

... as long as they don't make it look stupid, like VW did with the 'New' Beetle.

I realize that due to design and what people write here about Beolite 39, yes form a market point of view, that would be a smart remake.

but Peter, if we wouldnt care about what it nisch or not...Beogram 4000 or Beocord 1800 ?,that would be your personal choice.

Can agree about beogram 4000, there is something special about it, early, tangtial arm, the smooth narrow design and the  wide metal buttons, such a nice result of design .

I just love the old culture that recording and playback reel to reel was.

Nice thread.

If the goal is to make money for B&O, then the Beolit 39 suggestion may be a contender.

But I would like to see the Beolit 1000, in leather and rosewood versions, with DAB radio, internet radio, etc. Easily portable, and a guaranteed sell-out.

As the owner of Beogram 4000s and a Beocord 1200, I can well understand the desire to have the Bg4000 or a Beocord 2400 remade. But creating a good tangential turntable today would cost a lot of money, and I doubt it could be recouped. As to reel-to-reel, there's a reemergence for the technology in audiophile circuits, but the tapes are selling for ridiculous prices, and today's customers want convenience.

Beolit 1000 - with superior craftsmanship, with new internals to accommodate for new technology. Guaranteed to sell tons.

I would buy a beogram 4000 tomorrow if they re-issued it. But that will never happen. It would be nice to see a component like the playmaker but in the style of a Beomaster 2400 with nice glowing lights under glass.

me too,the Beogram 4000 has some extra magic.

If you would define the magic of the 4000, how would you define it ?

It would have to be the Beolab 5000 integrated amplifier. But it would cost thousands to manufacture from scratch today. The Beogram 4000 would be stunningly expensive too!

An update and addition to the 5000/5500/6500/7000 series BeoSystems. An Oppo kit in a Beogram 50 form factor with datalink - a universal disc player with high quality outputs able to fit right into my stack. A successor to to the AV 7000 with HDMI and other digital inputs - maybe a Beosystem 4 packaged in a pizza box format? How high can I stack these anyway?

Dom

2x BeoSystem 3, BeoSystem 5000, BeoSystem 6500, 2x BeoMaster 7000, 2 pair of BeoLab Penta mk2, AV 7000, Beolab 4000, BeoSound 4000, Playmaker, BeoLab 2500, S-45, S-45.2, RL-140, CX-50, C-75, 3x CX-100, 3x MCL2 link rooms, 3x Beolab 2000, M3, P2, Earset, A8 earphones, A3, 2x 4001 relay, H3, H3 ANC, H6, 2014 Audi S5 with B&O sound, and ambio

Well I've tried a Beogram CD50 and a 5500. So with the Beogram and the Beocord that's five!
