noisy speed controler on my 1700

Hi can someone offer any clue on where to look for a fault as my otherwise pristine 1700 which I purchased new has starte to become noisy I can tell its the speed controling electronics .Its been lubed and rebelted and only recently started this issue.It is not audible above the surface noise of a record however with my volume turned halfway.
