Hi all,
I have to admit I am stupid. I regard myself as fairly technical and has worked in the IT industry for decades.Yet I find myself fiddling around with things I should not touch. Especially things that requires that I have read the manual, BEFORE starting messing things up ( no, I will not tell the story when i disassembled the dashboard of my car, this is the wrong forum..)
Anyway, yesterday my self esteem was boosted by having finally succeeded to make my DVD2 region free. ( thanks again, Keith!)
Enjoying the success I though I could easily do the same with my DVD1, so I found these instructions:
""Remove any CD or DVD and disconnect the power.
Press and hold << and >> on the front panel (not the remote) while reconnecting the power plug.
The current setting shows on the display.
Use << or >> on the front panel (not the remote) to change Region number.
Press PLAY to store. Wait 15 seconds until TV screen shows blue."
Well aware that this trick changes the region code, NOT making it region free I start fiddling with it ( yes, stupid).
As region code 00 is not an option in the display I thought that maybe 8 ( reserved for International venues, cruise ships etc) would do the trick. It didn't. I could still play my normal region code 2 though.
Then I tried region 12 ( thinking maybe this gives me region 1 and 2, but I was wrong)
Then I decided to go back to region code 2 since I thought maybe there is a limit of how many times I could change…but then the DVD goes all grey..not showing anything on the screen...
My question:
1. Is there a trick to make it region free?
2. if not, how can i reset it back to factory setting ( in my case region 2) without having to have the dealer doing it, laughing at me and charging twice the money the DVD1 is worth today...
Any ideas are welcome!
/Peter
