Hi All,

I've just received a Playmaker bought on eBay, apparently in perfect condition/boxed etc. Connected it to Beolab 6000s with brand new RJ45/Powerlink cables and streamed itunes via iPhone5;  Volume is only at a deafening 'Max' and running my finger around the Playmaker volume control does nothing - the mute function does thankfully work however!

Before I conclude the Playmaker is a 'dud' and start going back to the original owner, is there anything obvious I've not considered checking?

Any ideas gratefully accepted...

Hi Beocat47,

Yes there is an option to have the Playmaker set at full output, there is a detailed manual here, and page 11 gives information about this setting:

I hope that is of some help

Paul

Thanks Liberal,

I have set the Max Volume to 55 via A.Setup - 5 as per page 11, but the speakers are now distorting from the previous full volume experience (and probably damaged...), so I can't have sound on for more than a few seconds as it's still pretty loud! Also, using the A.Opt function on a Beo4 , I've set the IR function to 5  so it should respond to Beo4 volume.

However, turning the volume down with the Beo4, the Playmaker lights up in the centre as if receiving a signal, but the volume doesn't go down.  On my iphone I have sound at '1' as I'm playing the music, but the volume is still full; also the Playmaker's own wheel has no effect either- nothing will turn the volume down.

Note that the Powerlink cables are plugged into Powerlink '1' on the 6000's, and the switches set to R & L respectively, so I don't think it's a 'Line' issue.

Any other ideas are very welcome...

Are you absolutely sure, that you have stored the new setting?

Did the led turn on green as a confirmation?

Millemissen,

If I knew you better I would kiss you right now..!

I've just gone back and re-input the Beo4 codes as I (thought) I had before, making sure this time that I confirmed everything with a 'GO' - and voila, my Playmaker finally works as intended.

I've noted that you've often solved other's problems on this forum by encouraging them to double-check their code sequences, so I'm very glad that you took the trouble to contribute here; after five hours I was nearly at my wit's end, so thank you once again.

Kisses aside, I didn't know that those solutions were possible with the volume settings, not that i have ever had an issue with my PM.

It seems that from the literature that its only available where the PM is connected to an AM?

I also wonder if you could use your BeoRemote One with the PM.

@Michael

The Playmaker, that Jonathan had bought, obvisiously had ben connected to an external amp - or more likely to an A.Tape/A.Mem/A.Aux input of an audiomaster.

This is a possibility, that B&O described right from the beginning - and that is the way, I used mine (and still do).

For this you need these settings.

There are several other setups described - e.g. you can use it with the NL/ML Converter (the A.Aux) in order to have access to it from everywhere in your B&O network.

But they choose to launch it as a standalone device - probably to adress new costumers and to 'make things simple'.

Of course you can use the BeoRemote One with the Playmaker, set up as a standalone device - if that is what you mean.
