Hi Guys,
I just want to hear your opinion and tips and tricks regarding my project to get some good sound in my bathroom.
A while ago I bought a second hand Beocenter 9000 to use with my AV9000 and BL 5000/BL3000 that I have in my bedroom. It is connected via beolink converter and works perfectly in the setup. I also have an Apple TV (ver.1.) connected via scart directly to the AV9000.
Together with the Beocenter 9000 I got a bag with som "stuff" the owner didn't really know what it was, since she inherited the system from her late father.
However, I think I have identified the "Stuff" in the bag as an MCL X-tra Speaker kit (passive). So, my idea now is to connect this to the Beocenter 9000/AV9000 setup in my bedroom and get a decent second hand pair of CX50 or CX100 and place them on the wall in the bathroom.
I have a few questions before I start though:
1. The cable from the MCL has been cut off and patched into two passive speaker connectors ( the ones with a round and a flat pin) to connect to the BC9000. I guess this is not the way it should look? This will only give me sound in the passive x-tra speakers from the BC directly but not being able to control it/change source via the BEO4 and the transponder I have set up in the bathroom, am I right?
2. If my assumptions above are correct, I should probably buy a new 7-pin beolink contact to replace that patched part and then connect it to the AUX on the Beolink converter, right? If I do that, Will I be able to choose source/volume via the transponder and even choosing the Apple TV?
Any ideas and experiences are welcome! :)
/Peter
Ps. Since we today use our Beolit 12, standing on top of the toilet ( which gives the bass some extra boost) when taking a bath, maybe this project is just complicating things, but hey, we all need a hobby ;)

Hi there,
An MCL link would usually be connected direct to the audio master (BC9000) 'speaker 2' sockets, using three pin DIN connectors like the ones for sale here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bang-Olufsen-Cable-6270266-mcl-cable-1-5m-2x3pin-male-speaker-plugs-/251252720687?pt=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item3a7fd4442f#ht_139wt_1170
This cable then goes to the mcl2a, to which you then connect the Passive speakers. You will also need to connect an IR transceiver, to enable you to operate the BC9000 remotely from the bathroom.
You should not connect MCL wires to the AUX of a BeoLink converter.
And the top diagram here explains which of the speaker 2 pins connect to which colour in the MCL2A terminal block: http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/wiring1.htm
Thanks for your quick answer, Guy!
Oh, so that actually means it was the correct connectors after all! :)
When I have it all connected, will I also be able to choose Apple TV as my sound source from the TV ( connected via Scart on the AV9000 and via beolink converter to my BC9000) ?
No problem - glad I could help!
With reference to selecting Apple TV in the link room - I think you should be able to do so. I have two STBs connected to my BV3 which is connected to my BC9500 and then to a link room via MCL. I can select STB(SAT) directly from the link room, whereupon the TV (but not screen) comes on and distributes the sound via ML/MCL. However, I cannot select STB(V.AUX) from the link room - this may be something to do with software levels in the MCL2As. I can get around this by initially selecting STB(SAT and then changing to STB(V.AUX).
