Hello everyone,
I recently decided to take my Beocord 8004 out of storage. I plug it in, it powered up, and i inserted a cassette tape. When I pushed play the heads engaged and went back down. I decided to open the machine up to discover that one belt was totally deteriorated and the other was very dry. I ordered a replacement belt kit and tried to play a tape again, only to have the same result. I had looked on some post online and also some advice from Martin Olsen on trouble shooting the situation. I verified that the the fuse was good and that there was power going to the small circuit board attached to the motor. I had 14.2 volts incoming (orange and black wires) and out going to motor (red and black) wires. From what I have read online is that unless the unit is in standby mode the motor should run continuously. I have not seen or heard any indication of this, even after pushing play fast forward or rewind. If anyone has any other things I can check, or if i'm on the right track, please let me know. If it sounds like a bad motor, can they be rebuilt or where can I find a replacement.
