Hi forum ,
I have some problems with my Beomaster 7000 and would like some input from your experience.
Quite recent the unit develops a strange behavior ;
-display flicker ( both lamp and led-segments )
-relay clicking ( mute too )
-silence seconds ( without clicking noise )
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be somekind of sequence in this or a pattern over time.
The unit has been playing yesterday whole day ( so 8 hours ) at a low level 14 and suddenly the relay clicking comes up .
I then had a look at the front panel ( i am working at my office which is on the backside of the wall ) and noticed some elements of the front panel were flickering too .
I verified that both some led-segments as well as some indicator lights were sharing the same behavior.
The unit has been restored several years ago , but has not recieved any new caps as by then everything was still adjustable.
I am wondering if it is not time to do a recap ?? or maybe another problem might cause these strangies ??
So , does anyone have a list of caps which should be first-in-line to cure my problems ??

You might want to read this old thread of mine on a 6500 recap; the 7000 will be very similar except for a different CPU module (and the addition of the RDS module, which you shouldn't need to touch).
Possibly bad caps (they are suspicious simply because of their age at this time), but your symptoms point also to bad solders on the front panel PCB and the connectors that lead to it. That can lead to flickering displays, muting relay rattling etc.

I will verify the front panel and it's connectors and cabling .
I have replaced the battery and cpu some years ago , and by the comments of family members the have all heard the rattling before but remembered it disappearing ( yeah right ) after i did the battery and cpu .............
Definitely worth a disassembly.
btw , anyone got firmware 1.2 ?? ( i have 1.1 and 1.3 )
Taking things apart can help to make the symptons worse
Indeed, the standard procedure. Change several caps in the powersupply and in the amplifier section.
Lots of cracked solder joints can be found, especially at the solderside of the connectors. Check the rectifier, Connectors and the upc board,
Replace the relais. Their contacts are oxidated aswell.

The unit has been playing since my post , and that without any of the symptoms i mentioned ..............
What might be the reason , as the temperature has not changed that much , neither has the humidity, and the playing hours are also around 8 hours a day .
I got my esr meter dusted off , soldering iron pre-heated...................now for the caps to replace , are there any direct-suspects ( the ones which will fail the earliest ?? )
any help or info , very welcome

The 10uF ones at the back first.
Check the solderjoints at the bottom. and front panel.
My BM7000 is running 24 hours a day. It is by far my most used piece of gear. Definitely worth getting it running properly.
