Hi everybody
I recently bought some IcePower 250A modules to upgrade my existing amps (T-Amp and B&O) in the MCL- link rooms. Usually these modules are powered by the ASP-Modules which are not available in the european market. Does anybody know how much power each of these 250A-modules really need? They need a unregulated +50V supply and a regulated pair of +- 12V for the gain.

Just a guess.
If you're goin to use the old school technique, then you should use a 2x35V, 2x5A transformator. 2x35 multiplied by 1,4 gives you around 50 V unregulated for both the negative and positive voltage. You need a transformer like, 1x220v primary, 2x 35v secundairy. But the first depends on where you are located. As 230v is the standard here. Don't forget to rectify the AC current with a "double" recifier.

A 5U4G from Sovtek would work well for that, if you're into eccentricity.

I have to admit, that's a bit to old school for me....
I have some info/lecture for that , but nope, I won't be able to build/design from the heart.

BTW Would it work without firework? Old school tubes vs new ICE amps in one housing?

Without running numbers and such I'm not sure if a single could source the current you'd need, but I'm sure that if you applied the design right you could use the tube. After all, it's only a full wave rectifier, same thing as a handful of diodes. Sovtek has these great looking large shoulder tube envelope ones too. The tube would probably put out more heat than the amps.
I kind of like oddball stuff, when I first got my Beosound 9000 I had it hooked up to a McIntosh MC240 tube amp and a pair of traditional passive speakers. Looked cool, the ultra modern Beosound with the ancient tube amp.
