Hi all, I just got hold of a cheap BS9000 MK3 unit, that was supposed to have power failures, and the sled was moving very erratically.

1. The sled moving problem was cause by a "certified" guy who has been checking it for "not reading cd's" When he assembled to sled, he switched the 2 blade springs that aligns the sled with the alu plate. This caused the top part of the slay, the part with the display, to hang to low so it scraped the plate. When moving fast, it could actually go so low that it blocked the slay completely.

After the "repair", the guy that was looking at it, returned it with "it has a power failure", but he could not tell how much it would be to fix it.

The reason he thought it was a power failure, is that when slay is blocked, there will be 2 errors in Testmode 27. SLDG 41 which is "sledge blocked", and also a PWR 100 failure, which is "to low sledge motor power".

It is unbelievable how these "certified" guys can screw things up, and dont care to fix it correct.

2. The laser is dead, it just throws focus error 2 now that I have fixed the sledge problem.

Does anyone have any reliable sources for these VAM 1250 lasers ? There are some on eBay, but also reviews that thy do not work.

Any great ideas on how to get these lasers ?

Most reliable: the original B&O ones. Costs more, but takes less time than it would take with ebay parts.

But will B&O sell the lasers for them selves ? A complete new unit is very expensive isn't it ?

Forgot a question :)

It is connected to a Beolink Passive amplifier, and I can turn it on with the remote, using radio or cd, and I can put it in Testmode with the remote, but once the unit has turned on, it does not longer respond to the remote. Some of the buttons on the panel work, but the sound settings shows "TV OPERATED" in the display.

If i enter testmode, I can use the remote to the generic testmodes, but when I press cd to use CD testmodes, the unit stops responding to the remote.

Should it not work with the Beolink Passive, or does it need a "proper" set of beolink speakers ?

The unit responds to sound-1-store, but it is as if it is a bit confused.

Try to use the passive with only powerlinkcable. It looks like you have used ml cable?

If you got it cheap, then an investment of a new laser is a good one.

Hmm, the problem is solved using one of my Beolab Penta's so something in the Passive is not "correct" :)

I will just create a powerlink plug with the 2 legs shorted as the service manual says insted ..
