Hi folks
Just wanted to ask, if this comes out the right way, but does the tension of the drive belt have any bearing on whether the Rubber drive "Disc" ? if that's what it's called, making contact with the the "Cone" that then drives the platter.
Apologies for my Crap description, but I don't know what particular parts are called.
Also, is there more than one Cartridge that can be used in the Beogram 4000 Tangential play deck ?, and is there somewhere that gives the applications for particular cartridges ?..
Many Thanks for reading.
Growing old is inevitable, Growing up is Optional
Beomaster 3000-2, BM 4400, Beocenter 3500, Beogram 1200, BG 4002, Beovox P45, BV 1802, BV 3702
The Beogram 4000 accepts the SP15, MMC3000/4000/5000/6000 and the whole MMC20 range
The lower specified ones are MMC3000, MMC20S and MMC20E while the middle og the road ones are SP15, MMC4000 and MMC20EN (all technically identical), the CD-4 capable cartridges were the Shibata-tipped MMC5000 and special Pramanik-tipped MMC6000. The latest top model, MMC20CL has a contact line diamond very similar to the MMC2.
Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
Thanks for that Soren
It's just I've seen a 4000 that needs a little work for quite good money, but no cartridge, and the products list on here only lists the MMC4000 or the MMC20EN, so it's good to know I'm not just limited to them.
Many Thanks Again
And to your other question, yes.The belt tension is critical for keeping a good contact and friction from the idler wheel tothe motor pulley. It's even more critical than that, since it also allows for the idler wheel to swing away and comeback to establish a good contact at a different motor pulley diameter when changing speeds on the fly.Quite a belt, really. Most of the ones sold on Ebay are simply standard off-the-shelf types and sizesthat won't work very well.I believe Frede (Beoworld member Classic) had a batch of correct belts reproduced recently.Worth asking him if you are in need.
Martin
Thanks Martin
Yet again you come up Trumps ( Sorry, silly English saying ), but that's great, as I was looking at the mechanism wondering how the Motor pulley was going to make contact with the cone, without some sort of help, but I just couldn't see the solution in my head at the time, and I only have the old belt to hand at the moment, so thanks also for the heads up about the right and wrong belts.
Can I contact this Frede just through personal message ?.
EDIT:- How exactly do I find out how to contact Frede ?, as I cannot even find the Member's list.
The whole mech may be in need of cleaning and some fresh lubrication, that's very common.
To contact Frede, go here and click "send an email".

Thanks, yet again Martin, you're a Star.
There isn't a "How To" of dismantling the drive system of the 1200 anywhere, is there ?, as it would be extremely useful, I'm good at fixing things like this, but it's just getting everything back in the right order.
Also, and so I don't have to take up space with another post, I need to fix the tuning slide on my Beomaster 4400, and I'm pretty sure it's the cable that attaches to the tuning wheel, but I wouldn't know how to get it done correctly, so that it tunes in to radio stations properly, and also what cable/string/ twine to use.
I'm sorry to ask yet more questions, but people here are so helpful, I really do hope I can help others sometime.
For cleaning and taking apart try here the thread is somewhat erratic, but go through it, it may help a little
