With the dreaded mother in law now set to stay with us for another 6 months at least, my bedroom bunker continues to grow apace. I have been watching preppers as much as i can to get tips, but their technological knowledge is limited.
Because over the winter i do a lot of nights the room is very dark, even in the day. I have been looking at a brand new Panasonic Neo Plasma 42 inch GT50 £600, and a 2005 second hand Beovison 4-42 with beosystem 2, again £600. The fact that the Beovision 4 is 720 is irrelevant to me, and as i'm going to use a Bose Cinemate system for sound i'm guessing so is the Beosystem 2!
Am i being ridiculously brand loyal, considering one is new i.e. the Panasonic? Does anyone use a 4-42 and can give a review compared to todays technology?
I did get an 8-26 and put it in her room, but she continues to haunt me
Thanks in advance.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
I have an old BV5 and a Panasonic 42" new plasma. The picture on the Panasonic is much sharper with HD feed - the BV5 is much better sonically. If you are not linking with the rest of your system, go for the Panasonic and some decent speakers. Trickier if linking!!

The guys in the basement apartment, here, went for a Sony 32" in their bedroom, despite owning an Avant and a BV6-23 in the kitchen. They said they didn't use the bedroom TV enough to justify a B&O and mostly have it connected to a DVD player, where the picture is excellent on the 32" panel.
But....I'm impressed with the V1 in the bedroom. Maybe it's just me, but they appear to have changed the finish on the V1? Seems much more robust than I remember. I bought a discounted ex-demo BV10-32 recently, but would seriously give the white V1 some thought. Perhaps an ex-demo V1?
Trying to keep it around £600, and as it will be in a room with an almost permanent state of blackout, i'll try Plasma for once. Being on the third floor i couldn't trust myself alone with the dynamic contrast man spoiling the picture!
Wish i had got that 5 in Edinburgh for £200 now.
Get the plasma - stick it on THX setting and away you go!!
