Welcome to the forum, but if you are looking for a bank to rob, you are wrong hereSmile, as for the Beolit, be careful, the Lauritz auction site add a lot of fees and extra cost to the auction price

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Nice radio but same description as used previously, and that's still a very sorry description:

'This model is the first radio, which has a cabinet made of bakelite'.
- Not true. There were hundreds before it.
It wasn't even the first radio from B&O with a bakelite cabinet. The Beolit 39 holds that title though the
cabinets were identical. B&O produced several bakelite items from 1936 (maybe even earlier) - just not any radios.

'The mold got lost under a bombing of the factory during the war'.
- That is not confirmed. The mold was most likely worn out and discarded at the end of production.
However, it is of little importance since production already stopped in 1940 and the factory
bombing wasn't until january 1945.

'The production was first resumed in the 50' again'.
- Not true. The Beolit 40 production was never resumed. A somewhat Beolit 39-inspired model was
produced from late 1949, namely the JET 505, but it was mirrored, it had a considerably different
looking cabinet, an all new chassis with completely new electronics and was housed in plywood rather than bakelite.

Of course, none of this makes it a bad set. Just a hint not to put too much into the descriptions from this auctionhouse.

Yeah, their descriptions are rarely very good - that might be good  news for me though, having checked it out in person, as opposed to those having to rely on the description :o)

Basic rule of auction bidding.... don't raise anyone else's interest in an item you are after yourself!

Am I mistaken, or is that same radio for sale again?

Something rather odd going on here by the looks of things.

I do lose faith in places when they do things like this.
