Hi all.

I been reading that the B&O speakers shouldn't be placed with a toe in towards the listener. And especially the ALT speakers. After a bit of testing at home I found that I would benefit  with the speakers toed in.

So I asked Geoff what the "right" placement would be and got a really god answer.

"Hi Kareem,

I would be surprised if you did not hear a difference between forward-facing and toed-in BeoLab 5's, since you're changing the energy balance between the direct sound (from the loudspeaker to the listening position) and the sidewall reflections. If you did the same experiment outdoors, I would expect that you would hear very little, if any, difference due to the lack of reflections off the side walls.

Which is "correct" is up to you - whichever you prefer is the better solution - I can't tell you what to prefer.

However, I will say that, when we do listening tests with any loudspeaker (BeoLab 5's included), we always toe-in towards the listening position. The only times I do NOT do this are when we have a VERY large group in the listening room and we have to cover a wider listening area.

I hope that this helps

Cheers

Hopes this can help some one.
