My Rx-2 tonearm snapped in transport. I bought another Rx-2, fitted the old cartridge, but only get a very weak signal from one channel (tested with 2 different amps, the problem is the same).

I would appreciate any input as to possible causes and solutions.

I have considered swapping the entire tonearm from one table to the other, but of course have no idea how to do this and would prefer a simpler solution if there is one.

Probably the cartridge.  To test, re-insert the cartridge with the needle facing up.  Gently brush your finger across it (from back to front).  If the low signal is now coming from the other channel, the cartridge is at fault.

Thanks for the help.  Tried your suggestion and got no real signal from either channel.

If it is the cartridge, where is the best place to source a replacement?

This person can rebuild it for 99 euros if it's an MMC4 or 5.   Soundsmith is authorized by B&O to sell replacements starting at $200.
