I recently purchased a Beogram 1600 and some Beovox S45-2 speakers to go with it and now I am looking for an amp to complete it all so I can start playing my records.  A gentleman on here suggested the Beomaster 1600 as this was the one released with the Beogram 1600.  The only problem is that I am having great difficulties tracking down a Beomaster 1600 to buy.

I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions as to what other amp models would work with my Beogram 1600?  I would like an amp that has the wood trim also to match the TT and speakers.

Let me know your thoughts.  I appreciate your help.

Cheers, Jarred

Hi Jarred,

the Beoworld is your oyster!  If you check the 'Main Site' and look through the products for Beomasters, you will find a multitude that would match (wood trim) and perform well with your TT and speakers.  There are usually Beomaster 1600 or 1700's available on eBay (member 'Dillen' has one that ends today or tomorrow I think).  Other alternatives may be Beomaster:

1500, 1700, 1900, 2000, 2200, 2300, 2400, 3000, 3000-2, 4400.  Different styles and specifications and all have there fans and some detractors.  The Beomaster 1500 is similar to the renowned 4400 but usually cheaper.

It partly depends on your style, tastes, budget and availability of each amp.  Don't however compramise because you can't find the amp you want 'now'.  Best to wait for the right one for you. This can sometimes take a long time - many Beoworlders, including myself have waited several years to get what they desire!

Dave.

Beomaster 3000 - elegant, good sound and plenty around - common problem is transformer hum. More modern looking - Beomaster 2200 - still has some wood trim! Even better sound and unusual - not as common. Beomaster 1900/2400 - very modern but still wood! Sound is fine if not quite as good as the other two but lots around and an eye turner. 2400 has remote control.

Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for these suggestions.  They have been a huge help.  Now to find one that's for sale.

Hi Jareed,

Go for a Beomaster 3000  or 3000-2. Amazing pieces of kit. They have the looks, the performance and the sound quality which typifies 1970's B&O.

I bought a new one in 1973 and still use it most evenings. I have since purchased a further two, one of which is used daily by my son, the other with a second sound system in my office.

Red Diamond Audio have a couple of mint examples, one in white, one in rosewood. I have dealt with George at RDA and he really knows his stuff.

Look him up on Google and give him a call.

Good luck
