I just inherited a Beogram 4002 that appears to be in good working order - turntable speed, all operation buttons, lights etc.

The only problem is that the tone arm does not lift at all, when the Start button is pressed. The lift system just drags it across in either direction.   Can anyone suggest how to repair this?  Thanks

I suggest that the lift/lower mechanism needs lubrication.

This is a well documented fault on the forum. Search this forum and the archived forum  for 4002 lubrication or similar and you will get plenty of help.

See here for  a very good article with pictures which details restoration of an identical turntable.

Thanks Joey,   I print out some of these procedures and also find the service manual. Hope this works.  I'll let you know if I have any success.  Ray

If they ping, they are probably gone forever.
