The owners manual states the 4500 can be set to accommodate different types of equipment ( non B&O I assume )

Step 1 is to simultaneously press PROGRAMMING and #7.The display indicates OP and the appropriate cue, Tape2,CD,or Phono.

Step 2 is to touch Tape2, CD or Phono as the case may be.

I'm missing something here. I go through steps 1 and 2 but don't seem to be able to select anything different from what is pre set.

I am desirous of playing a B&O 3400 turn table with MMC 20CL cart. in the phono jack, a non B&O CD in the CD jack, and a non B&O TV in the TV jack.

How do I program for the above?

Many thanks in advance.

The programming functions for the sockets on the back of the Beomaster is mainly because B&O wanted to save some money by mounting fewer sockets (or maybe there wasn't space for more sockets).
The Phono/TP2 uses the same socket. You can plug your Beogram 3400 into this - but you'll need a RIAA amplifier between the Beogram and Beomaster, as the 4500 does not have a build-in RIAA.
You can plug a non-B&O CD player into the CD socket without having to programme anything (use the factory settings).
- as you can also connect a MP3 player or any other device.
You can also plug a non-B&O TV into the AUX/TV socket - (as you can plug almost any device to this socket).
You only have to reprogramme for special options - e.g . IF you should want to plug a secondary tape-deck to the aux/tv socket and use the TAPE2 on the front panel or the remote control.

I hope this was helpfull.

That's an option because I have a BM4500 with build in RIAA.

Yes - I remember that I got a RIAA module mounted in my first BM 4500, as i then had a Beogram 3300 (without RIAA).
And when this module was mounted, the Beomaster should be programmed by pressing (touching Wink) 'Programming' + '7' - Option 'Phono'.
