Hi,

Can anyone say is this fit for all BC 9000?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-O-BANG-OLUFSEN-CD-MECHANISM-BEOCENTER-9000-CDM4-16bit-NOS-PART-8420269-/221304448051?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item3386c5e433#shpCntId

Is there different kind of CD parts on BC9000?

Yes, early BC9000's were fitted with 14 bit CDM2 mechanisms and later 9000's were fitted with the 16 bit CDM4 mechanisms.

According to my service manual the change over was from serial number 05816917

The serial number does not match those in my manual but that is probably because of a slight update of the part.

If it was my 16 bit  9000 that does not work I would gamble that this replacement would cure it.

I have this typical problem of BC. CD does not read disc.

I did change those capacitors and it start work but then suddenly back to the start.

Maybe there is some cold solder somewhere but I have not be able to find it. And my

skills are not so high to do something "special" things.

So if I change complete CD system maybe it start work again... or it is waste of money.

Did you check power supply chain, relay ect.?

I haven't seen CDM4 in any 9000s.

It works like this:

1) WILL SPIN, TRY TO FOCUS, DISPLAYS TRACK NUMBERS, DOESNT PLAY

2) AS ABOVE, BUT DOESNT DISPLAY NUMBERS

3) TRYS TO SPIN, TRY FOCUS, THEN THEN DOOR OPENS READY FOR ME TO TAKE THE CD OUT.

It can still relate with power source or bad solder in it. It might be worth to resolder whole supply board behind transformer, and relay board by cd mech.

If you have change cap on servoboard, you have seen cd mech, so you will know if it is CDM2 or 4 from spindle motor, 2 has hal-motor and 4 has toy-motor.

EDIT: sorry, found out that there are early CDM4s with HAL motor also, so you have to look from actually mech wether it is 2 or 4.

Also you can check this cdm2 > cdm4 thread
