Hello everyone

In my Apartment there are several B&O passive Speaker Sets with the old white IR-eye (only timer & mute button). It's based on the MCL-Standart.

So i bought a beomaster 3500 AMP (including Beo 1000) to use the multiroom system. Now The radio-streaming is working, but i have two problems:

1. When I turn on the beomaster 3500 (its placed in the living room) and set the input to radio, I can press the "Mute* Button on any IR-Eye, and the sound will come. The problem is, that i can not control (change Input, Mute, Volume, etc.) the beomaster 3500 through the ir-Eye with the Beo1000. I really search for hours and I think from what i've read that it should work, is that correct? Everything is programmed for Option2.

2. Second, i tried to connect my main amp(not b&o) through Audio-Out, but theres no sound. I've tried the CD-In, AUX/TV in and the Tape1-In using a Cinch-Din Adapter. Do  i have to use a special cable (or is it not the standart DIN pin layout (2,3,5)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

David

1 - Try to set your MCL stations to L.OPT 1 (Link option 2 should work too).

To do this, set the whole system to standby mode, press LINK - 1 - STORE on your BL1000 in front of each MCL set.

IR LED should blink. Now it should be possible to activate all audio sources from all linkrooms.

Pressing Standby (red dot) will shut down the whole system, pressing MUTE should deactivate that single link station.

2 - If you want to connect an external poweramp you can do this by connecting an amp to AUX/TV port or TAPE port.

It`s standard DIN layout, but output is 2,1,4 (2,3,5 is input). http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/wiring3.htm

Hope this helps and welcome to Beoworld....

Hello Stefan Thank you very much for your fast help. Well the input problem was solved. It was my fault. Have tried to bring a digital signal through zone2 (only supports analog signal) ;). Now it works. Now for problem 1: Its a little bit strange - Well I have made new wiring from Beomaster 3500 to MCL/PL Plug (same like before, but i wont see the cables). Then i started everything up and started link setup like you write in your post. While standing in front of the first eye i tried the "mute" command before making new setup and it worked. I could also use the command "Radio" to bring sound back to speakers, but after that no more commands were passed through. I also tried serveral times to redo setup (LINK - 1 - STORE), but it never worked again. Is there a special way I have to do the setup for the whole system? Perhaps like: startup and programming beomaster first - then plug in power supply for the home system which will provide voltage to the different eyes and programming them. Im not exactly sure about which step i have to do first. Do i have to check the voltage from the Power supply? But the buttons on the eyes are working (except Timer, because beomaster 3500 doesn't support it) The ControLED flash if i send commands with the beo1000. Thanks David

Could you please be a bit more specific? Please describe your setup.

If you have a BM3500 (Beomaster 3500) you just need MCL2A relay boxes and the white ir receiver (and passive speakers of course). There is no need for Powerlink. (If you mean Powerlink talking about "PL plug).

BTW there is a lot of information about MCL (Master controlLink) on Beotech site.

Hello Stefan Sorry for my late answer. I've had a lot of work. Well you're right. It is MCL setup. I was taking about the label (PL) of the plug. But it's a MCL Link. Well, I still have the problem that I cant control the beomaster 3500. The only thing that works is to activated sound with the remote (on IR eye) "Mute", Control Volume or change source will not work. I tried al the different setups but nothing works. Perhaps something is wrong with the beomaster 3500. Anyway thanks a lot for your help. David (Sorry about layout - some problem with chrome/ cant change it)
