I think I'm going to put my 1970 Beolit 600 (which I love and use every day) on ebay as in 2 or 3 years time it will be worthless when FM eventually gets switched off.
And then I thought would it be possible to put the guts of a digital radio inside the case of a Beolit and still use the Beolit's amplifier and speaker ? I guess the main issue would be where to put the digital display... it certainly needs someone with more imagination and technical knowledge than me!
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Nigel
Funny idea. Maybe you can connect an iRadio2 or even install this into your Beolit, using an AUX socket and controled via Beo4.

There is also a DAB radio that can be controled via Beo4/5/6.

There must be small digital to analog converters out there, or something with one of these Ipod to FM signal converters used in the car to play through the FM radio
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
I agree with previous reply, you could use all sorts of converters to allow the Beolit to tune in to digital devices.
Dab is by no means a "done deal" in the U.K. yet.The switchover may be postponed to 2020 due to market resistance/apathy?

Oh, man . You scared me
blah-blah and photographs as needed
I thought they had ditched the idea in the UK of switching of FM analogue?

And most other countries never planned to.
Here in Finland, the national broadcasting company closed down its DAB service (operating since 1997) in 2005, when it had only a few hundred users. If they ever bring back digital radio, it's probably going to be something else than DAB. Actually they still carry some radio channels in the DVB service.

One man's unsolicited opinion: as long as people drive cars, there will be free analog FM radio broadcasts.
So now I'm thinking I should pull my ebay listing, because FM might not be switched off until another 6 or 7 years.....
Does anyone have any inside information as to when it's actually going to happen?
Thanks for the resurrection!
I sold the Beolit for over £300 (crazy) and replaced it with a Century. Liked it so much I have now have 2 and am looking for a 3rd!
