I'm giving serious thought to getting the BL18s/BL19 combo. Expensive, but they are like an upgraded BL3/BL11, which I love, as the brightness of the audio suits my tastes.

What I can't get my head around is the Transmitter 1. I want the BL18s/BL19 to be wireless, so the Transmitter 1 is a must. But it needs to connect to another device, right?

Like I said in a mini-rant about the expense of the Essence, it's all well and good, but couldn't they have built in some PlayMaker support in to the Transmitter 1? You should be able to stream audio directly to the device! One box.

So, I guess the question is this: the Transmitter 1 is a 'bridge' between B&O device and your speakers. Which means you need a separate device for your audio. This means the PlayMaker is still required to connect to the Transmitter 1?

Was tempted to go back and get an old BC2, but then realised you'd still need a PM to connect to this, for streaming - so a BC2, PM and Transmitter 1, all in the same room. Lots of cables and boxes. Why couldn't the Transmitter 1 had Airplay/DNLA support from the PM?

It is a bridge for wireless B&o speakers. But the transmitter 1 is not restricted to B&o products. The function is thus simple: the way to connect B&o wireless speakers to older B&o audio / video and additional to connect to other brands of audio / video.

Maybe you have to wait for theTransmitter 2

That's a limitation Apple puts in place.  In order for a product to get their seal of approval it can't repeat the AirPlay signal wirelessly.

Sadly we can't be non-Apple compatible these days, though in many ways it would make life much easier!!

I'll give the options further thought. I might just get a PM and Transmitter 1, for now, along with the speakers.

Well....after I've paid our end-of-year tax bill later this month!

I had a fantastic trade in for my 1140 mki for a 46 with transmitter 1. Effectively got all my money back for my one yr old 40 just paying the difference for the screen size

Worth thinking about

I'd have to move up to the 55". I don't want a 55". Besides, the speakers and Transmitter 1 will be located in a different room, so connecting it to the TV won't work. Effectively I want the speakers to saddle the fireplace in my kitchen/dining room. You can't realistically run a cable across the fireplace!
