Hi there,

I currently have a Beomaster 3500 system and I am using Beolab 2500 speakers. I am happy with the sound from these but they don't match the system visually. I have the chance of purchasing a pair of Redline speakers, model No RL60.2. I'm thinking these would be more the sort of speakers that would have been used with this system. Does anyone have any thoughts on me using the redlines instead of the Beolab speakers and how the quality of sound would compare? I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Cheers,

Philcam

Hi and Welcome to Beoworld,

Yes the RL60.2 would be a great match and more suited to the BM3500 in terms of the correct era - I used to use them with my BC9500. I would definately try to get stands with the RL60.2, either floor stands or wall brackets - in order to get them up off the floor and reduce the bassiness.

I haven't used BL2500, but if you no longer need them you should be able to get a good price on the second hand market.

Thanks Guy,

Sounds like I should bid on these Redlines! I did read online that the 45 model has problems with something called the ABR which is to do with the bass driver, that has perished over time but the 60.2 doesn't have this problem. Does that sound right to you? Thanks again for your help here!

Cheers

Yes that's my understanding too - the early RL60's also had ABR problems but the 60.2s should be fine - mine are about 22 years old and still sound great!
