Could anyone assist with how to make the radio work? Pressume I need to purchase B & O fm in room antenna from that period? Suggestions on where to buy most appreciated, ebay has not proven successful.

Many thanks

FM dipole antenna are available on eBay with various fittings depending on the connections at the rear of the BM 1500.  Male and female connectors and antenna are available from QD Audio

 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-O-BANG-AND-OLUFSEN-COMPATABLE-FM-RIBBON-AERIAL-REF-AERIAL-/261314324344?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Compact_Shelf_Stereos&hash=item3cd78c2778

and 2 pin connector types are freely available too.  Also at most hardware type stores or electrical outlets.

Unless you're after the 'rabbit ear' type which also come up on eBay.

On many Beomasters a paperclip works just as well if you're in a strong reception area.

And connect a pair of speakers and make sure, they are switched on at the front panel.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

if you are in the UK, I can recommend this one - model SV9151, it is not retro though !

we are in a built up area with poor FM radio and this aerial sits by the window where the Beomaster is, the B&O aerial was just not man enough, but we bought the 9151 and now we get all the radio stations, it is an amplified antenna, which I think helps a lot too

yes it will directly plug into the FM coax connector on your 1500, this is because the One4All is really a TV aerial that happens to also be really good at pulling in weak FM radio stations

yes you will need another aerial for MW radio, if you are really serious about MW reception, have a read of this first, it was a real eye opener for me when trying to get MW radio for my Dad on his Beomaster 5000

http://www.marcspages.co.uk/tech/antmwrec.htm

and then you can decide whether to make your own MW antenna, there is a separate connector to use for MW radio reception on your 1500 (next to the FM coax plug)

here is a pic of the aerial supplied by B&O for AM/MW radio reception, it is practically useless in the UK unless you are in a really good reception area for AM/MW broadcasts ( we are not )

the tricky bit of course is getting the correct 2 pin connector for the MW aerial input on your 1500,  you may have to find a Maplins or old fashioned radio TV shop to get one, here is a photo

the amplified AM / MW antenna that B&O provided back in the eighties was called the Active AM Antenna AM10

http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=1003

in fact there is one for sale on ebay  Item   321245630011

also, I know a lot of people have had success with TERK amplified antennas, they do a combined AM and FM aerial called the AF1 which works well
