Gents,
My mom is getting speakers for her large house. She wants to stream music, i.e. not connect any cd player etc. She has pretty much decided for a9, but i'm trying to convince her to get beolab 9.
She can get a used set of beolab 9's for little more than a new a9.
What do you think?
Thanx!
Soundwise fo large room - Beolab 9 (in white) with Playmaker!
Beolab 9's. For what it is, the A9 is a good piece of kit, but the Beolab 9's are in a totally different league at least as far as sound is considered.
Also with the Beolab you get two speakers and therefore more placement options and a better stereo image.

It really depends.
The A9 is obviously easier to place and requires less wires — two things normal, non-audiophile people appreciate more than sound quality. But I would personally go for a pair of 9s, if only for the stereo separation. 9s for serious music listening, but if that don't matter as much, get the A9 for ambient lounge listening.
I would guess your mum is buying the A9 more for its look rather than as hi-fi. I can imagine that she will be less than keen on having two large speakers each of which will need wiring into the system. I would have the Beolab 9s - but I am not the buyer!

Thanks gentlemen. Beolab 9s will be best.
Yeah sound wise the A9 is not even as great as proper active speakers in its price range. But I really enjoy the look and versatility in placement.
